in Ragamuffin Soul » I Hate It When My Worship Leader… on Ragamuffin Soul
I've read about 80% of these...
It reminds me of the suggestion wall at Whole Foods Market. There is a wall...you write on a piece of paper and instead of putting it in a box, you post it to the board. Now, for a business this seems very savvy...it says the to consumer, "Let us hear your petty likes and dislikes, we are here for you."
I'm not bashing Los for asking the question, but I am taken aback at the sheer consumerism that is dripping from these responses. They are laundry lists of likes and dislikes. This is fine for a store, where you become a patron and shop because of the experience or value it contains, but for a service of believers coming together to corporately tell our Savior how we love and adore Him, praising Him, thanking Him for who He is and swearing to lift Him up in good times and bad, it makes me ill.
Are we so focused on our own wants...our own perceived needs? Now, I agree that there are certain things leaders to that can be annoying...and the stories are funny, but I don't understand some of the folks saying things like,
-we hate greeting people (seriously? Why are you even here?)
-we hate slow/fast/new/old/dense/lite songs (Do you remember the songs last week? Is your guy/gal changing it up)
-we hate mini-sermons (well yeah...who doesn't)
I know I'm late to the discussion...been on vacation with no *Dun Dun Duhhh* internet access.

in Ragamuffin Soul » I Love It When My Worship Leader on Ragamuffin Soul
Thank you Shaun for voicing something that has been stirring in me for a while. Maybe we "Worship Leaders" need to try and understand how to allow people to experience worship in Spirit and Truth...anywhere, and everywhere, as a part of our lifestyle. If that doesn't work for us...maybe we should be Music Leaders and appoint someone else as "Worship" leaders.

That's what I thought...how do you narrow it down to 50? There are 50 friends in Riverside, CA alone that blog.

2> ...wow cursing is cool.
3> ...So is masculinity. So many times in the church all we find are a bunch of friggin' dudes who care way too much about their diesel jeans, their moisturizers and their iphones.
4> ...don't cross the line dude.
That may have been a little offsides. Driscoll, don't come to my house and pound me.

There will be Chewed Scenery.
There will be very little Blood.
I Drink Your Hammy re-hash of Bill The Butcher from "Gangs Of New York."
Actually I dug the film...I don't know why I am being such a hater.

Wow...uh...wow.
Sound like a Casio pro by triggering someone else's music.
My fave was Quiet Reverie where the dude looks like he is pouring out his soul through his pre recorded cheesy MIDI music.
That and the fact the when the Asian gal gets up, the music gets all "Asian."
Still, I would totally use this for triggering big hits and samples.

Today in blogdom, cheers went round the internets as a long time blogger otherwise known as Ragamuffin Soul shut down his site. Productivity went through the roof in many parts of the country as people no longer had to tab over in their browser away from the site when their boss walked in.
The day will no longer be called April Fool's and will heretofor be remembered as Loswhit Day.
A moment of silence.

in Music that Shaped My Life on Whether a tree falls...
I have to agree with Natalie about Jesus Freak. I remember putting the album on with a couple music snob friends because we had heard that it was different. We really tried to hate it. But could not.
Every song is incredible.
Also:
The PRAYER CHAIN
Asight Unseen
Black & White World
Lifesavers Underground
The Violet Burning
There was also a band called Sometime Sunday that rocketh like no band rocketh before. Mikee the lead singer was 6'7" and made Henry Rollins look like Timberlake.
Thanks for the memory lane post. I think that there was something different about the music scene in the early to mid nineties. I sensed it shifting in the late nineties when we all began saying "What's alternative these-days?" Everything back then was about the live show and the album....and I think it turned into focusing more on the single and the production.
I miss the mosh pits of my youth, and now I am the old guy at the back of the room.

I don't know dude, I was a little underwhelmed.
I was hoping for a Whole Foods/Henry's kind of place. Check out Goodwins' on Watkins. The whole store is organic. It is incredible.
Jess and I go there on dates.

Yeah dude, it's why you are my "friend" but a non-notification "friend"
There's gotta be a name for that somewhere...for twitter friends that actually are activated to your phone.
Hence, my brotha, you are not.
