in CASTING CALL: KITCHEN NIGHTMARES on The District Weekly
As a forner dishwasher at the 2U, I would love to see this place get the proper attention it deserves. The people I worked with made the task of burning my hands and stinking up my clothes much more enjoyable than it would have been at any other restaurant. I was a vegetarian when I worked there and used to enjoy the breakfast menu. I've since gone vegan so I can't partake in the peanut butter and banana contraptions, but I'll always have a soft spot for the Two Umbrellas.

Good luck!

in ‘THE BEATLES ARE THE THIRD’ on The District Weekly
Did it ever dawn on any of you that perhaps Greg is joking? That maybe he knows how ridiculous that statement is?

michelerene Exaaaactly.

I happened to be in the room when this interview was conducted and as an avid Beatles fan, the comment did make me cringe a little. However, having gotten to know Greg in the past few months, who by the way happens to be a HUGE fan of the Kombis (see comments above), I know it was tongue in cheek. Of course this quote became the headline because it is controversial, for which I don't blame the writer (got you all to read it, right?)

I also don't think he was saying it for shock value, either. He's not out to change the world, or convince others to even enjoy his music. His only rebelliousness is in refusing to play what other people want him to play if it doesn't fit his mood, which has created many disappointed Black Flag fans during his latest tour.

His 'like it or not' attitude keeps his energy focused on what's important: the music. And that's an admirable quality we should all learn to adopt.

in SPORTS: ARMADA CURES “NEED FOR SPEED” | The District Weekly on The District Weekly
Although I'm not much of a baseball fan, last season I went to a bunch of Armada games and loved the experience. Something about being outdoors, the fresh green grass, perfect summertime weather...I'll be there again this summer. Probably won't paint my face or get an Armada tattoo, but I'll still support the team. Anyone on the fence about going to a game should give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

in LONG BEACH LOSES ITS DAILY NEWSPAPER AS TORRANCE PUBLISHER TAKES OVER PRESS-TELEGRAM | The District Weekly on The District Weekly
Not sure that anyone cares, but I am a former PT employee. I just blogged about this on my site. Yeah, that sounds like spam, but it's better than copying and pasting my long rant here.
