I especially liked the analysis of the advertising targeting ability.

Re: Facebook announces fbFund app winners

Interesting that Mousehunt, already profitable and clearly able to grow on it's own, won. By the way, the link to Weddingbook is broken.

Re: Facebook’s platform: Rebuilding the plane in midflight

Smart piece, one of the most insightful analysis anywhere.

Re: Quick link: List of $350MM of VC investments in social gaming, virtual worlds, casual MMOs, etc

While we don’t necessarily think of ourselves as a gaming company, it’s nice to be included! Nice research.

I would also add to your list Outspark, who raised $11MM from DCM and Tencent in Jan ‘08.

Re: TVLoop.com Connects Passionate TV Fans

Arnold, nice writeup. The site TVLoop.com is DEFINITELY open to all countries and geographies. All of the blogs, discussions, games, profiles, recruiting, widgets, photos, quizzes, Youtube videos, and myriad other content is available for any fan anywhere to consume. In fact, a minority but good portion of our 16 million users are outside the US today.

The only features that are not available yet are video streaming. These are provided by our partners Hulu and ABC (and soon other partners). We depend on the rights holders to enable worldwide viewing. We're not there yet, but we're working with our partners to enable video watching everywhere.

Kevin

Re: 2008/12/09/tvloop/

Chris - TVLoop.com is not a video watching site, it's a community orientated site. We didn't add video until 2 months ago, and by then already had over 10 million users actively discussing, blogging, and playing games around television entertainment.

Re: HOW TO SUCCEED IN THE COMING SOCIAL GAMING EXPLOSION

Wonderful analysis. I thought your point about publishers versus developers was interesting in that on the social networks, it seems that the two seem very intertwined while on the broader web there's certainly a more clear separation.

I believe Zynga and SGN both tried to go down the distributor route early on, but both seem to have refocused on playing both developer and publisher. Any thoughts about why there hasn't been a major publisher-focused company on the social nets?
