It's really sad. The airlines are a lost cause as they have completely commoditized their business. With the exception of JetBlue and Southwest...

Part of the big problem is lack of brand identity that gets translated internally. Companies that have a clear brand identity (like Zappos) and then communicate it internally are the companies that people connect with.

Just my thoughts as a branding guy.

Re: Did Motrin Suffer From NASCAR Blindness?

As a branding guy I did not write about this sillyness. Really, what's the fuss about really? Certainly you can expect Motrin to test every ad? It's like the moms have become a damn Teamsters Union all the sudden...it's just a freakin ad.

Re: No One Cares About Your Brand More Than You

You are 100% correct! The problem with most brand owners is they can't see the forest from the trees and lose their way. Eventually they end up watering down the brand identity by trying to be everything to everyone. Brands like Apple reamin at the top because they remain focused.

p.s. I love the headline....truth is all groups can be racist. Look, Obama got 95% of the black vote, c'mon how did that happen? Because some blacks voted based on race and not necessarily on who was the best person for the job. He also got 60% of the Asian vote and 70% of the Latino vote, again...you have to wonder if they voted that way because they just wanted a minority in office? Then you have the really large racist group of George Bush haters. They voted against McCain because of their hatred towards George W...how dumb is that. I'm pretty sure George W. wasn't running (kudos for the awesome marketing of Obama for the perception).

Racism doesn't make sense no matter which group it comes from, does it?

Re: Google Alerts Hack

Excellent tip.
