Now that we have our own kid I understand why....
As far as using cloths vs paper towels - keep in mind that the trees used for paper towels are crops - just like wheat and corn. No rainforests are being touched to make a sheet of a quicker-picker-upper. Statistically speaking the US has been increasing the number of acres of forested land and so on and paper towels readily break-down in the landfill.
I\'m betting that if you think it through you\'ll find that environmentally and financially speaking washcloths versus paper towels is a wash(yeah I said that on purpose). :)
Love the site.

Re: noodad » Cloth vs. Paper

:grin :p ;)

Re: noodad » An Easy Promise to Keep

The problem I have with Upromise is that this plan will only work if, when using credit cards(which is how most people will use it), you pay off your card in full every month and never have a late payment. Otherwise you negate any savings. Given the way that CC companies are looking to stick it to their customers these days that is very likely to happen. And if you are carrying a balance you are just fooling yourself.

Also, I\'m not a fan of 529 plans. Most are too restrictive and make it hard to move your money around should you be stuck with a dog of a fund. Better to do an ESA (Education Savings Account). It has all the benefits of the 529 and you have all the control. You can put up to $2000/year into it. Btw, $2000/year for 18 years will get you $100k without having to risk dealing with CC companies.

Re: noodad » Boob Juice Causes Allergies?

this ought to set the Nipple Nazis into a total frenzy. How dare they attack the holiest of the holy - breastmilk! Seriously though it seems like a day doesn\'t go by that some breastfeeding study comes out making some incredible claims about what breastmilk can do/prevent. Not all of it will be true. It just highlights to me how much the medical community doesn\'t know. So, no, this won\'t change anything in our house.
