in Finding the Perfect Office Chair: Aeron vs. Swiss Ball vs. the FBI’s Pick… on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Tried most of those. Really liked the design of the Liberty, but was awful for me (too short, hit in all the wrong places). Also did six months at a standing desk.

Ended up with the Aeron and it has been outstanding for the last year & a half or so. Yes, it's more expensive than a cheapo from the office supply store, but will end up being the same cost if your cheapo (like mine) ends up having to be replaced every couple years. There is a pretty swamped market of used Aerons, if you keep your eyes open, and they tend to hold up pretty well used, too.

in Dyson Airblade drys your hands in 10 seconds without roasting them - Newlaunches.com on Newlaunches.com
These have appeared in a number of NY public restrooms over the last year. They actually work--which you cannot say of the usual sort. Not sure that I prefer them to paper towels, though.

in EduPunk: Do you fight for your right to ed-u-cate? on theory.isthereason
Oh, and I should have said: Thank you for the props. Throwing it to students is not just edupunk, but productively lazy, and reasonably anarchist :).

And TaaSA is great, but if you want real Edupunk, you have to go to Dewey and Freire. Or were they EduFolk?

Wait, Lego(tm) is punk? I guess then that the aim is dismantling corporate control of *some* educational technologies, while others can keep theirs. Just askin...

in Review: BUILT Laptop Backpack (Hey, guys love bags too!) on theory.isthereason
I'd only want this if there was a way to space it off my body so I could keep a laptop running. But, in the abstract, I approve.

in 4 Anti-Cold Cocktails That Work: From Ancient China to German Alcoholics and Modern Labs on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
You're not seriously recommending azithromycin for the common cold, are you? Sure, if you have pneumonia, that's the way to go, but given how much overprescription of antibiotics has already created new kinds of threats from resistant strains, this seems to be a really terrible piece of advice. If a doctor agrees to write you a script for this on your request, find a doctor who knows what she's doing.

in How did Peter Parker stack up against Master Chief? on theory.isthereason
Even more interesting is how the BlogPulse numbers compare to the search trends:
http://www.google.com/trends?q=halo+3%2C+spider...

If you overlay the two (I am too lazy to open photoshop at the moment), you will see that the spike in news coverage for halo is reflected in the spike in blog coverage. BUT that spike in news coverage has no effect in terms of searches.

Not sure what that means, but it is interesting.

Doh! I guess I should RTFA. I'll need to pick up a pair for cruising around campus :).

Nic Fillingham has adult ones!

Damn! Where'd he get them. I am always so jealous of the kids that have those things.

I’m thinking of adding a mobile wireless hotspot to my sousveillance backpack!

Hmm. That seems like a good way to make sure Sprint doesn't send you anything any more :). Might be fun to do a kind of extra-net, though, allowing people access to your personal database...

I know who said that (and who he was paraphrasing!). Have you been tracking on some of the published work in this area? Lot's of people working on memory prosthetics.

Viddler is *mostly* working for me, but video froze after several minutes (audio remained).

in Exclusive Photos and Specs for the Archos 704 Wifi (Portable DVR) on theory.isthereason
Was checking out one of the older Archoses at Target for the head-mounted cam, but trying to gut an old laptop instead. Really don't need the screen for that App, so I'm hoping that a headless laptop with a really big drive will work for me--at least for low-res recording.

in Today’s Links: Muji fascinates me all over again… on theory.isthereason
Ditto on Muji. I still have Muji stuff that's 15 years old and cho-kakui.

Note that my new school, Quinnipiac, made the list at #9. Not spectacular, but not bad for a school that is by far the smallest on the list.

Good point. Do you know of folks who have been approached that way? I'm sure it happens, but I wonder how much someone in a position to hire would be put off by the anonymous nature of the blog.

in The Inconvenience in “The Inconvenient Truth” on theory.isthereason
Kevin: Have to go with Gringo on this one. Like global warming itself, there is no reasonable debate over the claim that Gore "claimed to invent the internet." Here is the quote:

"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system."

Taking this out of context and even misquoting it was part of the dirty politics of the time. Rather than fighting it, Gore rolled with it, and so it became a part of our national consciousness. Fact remains: he was instrumental in funding and pushing high-tech. His opponent (Bush) didn't even use email.

Again, like global warming, to suggest that there is any real debate here is giving in to propaganda--there is no legitimate debate over either of these issues.

As for the timing, Gore has been giving this talk since his bid for presidency. Its only now that a production company decided to film it.

(The degree to which Participant creates propaganda is up for grabs. What probably is not is that they produce really good films.)
