in Why the Dirty Little Secret Stays Secret on Caffeinated Thoughts
I just did an interview with a pastor who confessed his struggle to his whole church. They were very receptive to him and showed a lot of grace. Granted, he also confess to his wife and close accountability partners first, and they helped him gain a measure of victory over the underlying sins that fed his addiction. But I found the whole story very inspiring altogether - http://www.covenanteyes.com/blog/2009/04/17/cov...
I also have a 5-part interview with a worship pastor and his wife about his porn addiction and case of adultery. Very interesting story: http://www.covenanteyes.com/blog/2009/05/26/pod...

in Top 5 Tools to Protect your Children Online on Palaestra Training
Thanks for this list of helpful resources. Another thought: Have you ever heard of accountability software? Accountability software is specifically for adults who want to guard where they go online without any blocking or filtering. Combined with filtering, it's a great Internet safety solution for the whole family. If you want more info about it check out my post “Is Filtering All There Is?” - http://www.covenanteyes.com/blog/2008/06/12/is-...

Blocking pornography websites for children is a difficult process. In the end, it is so important that parents and guardians recognize the dangers of pornography not just on children, but on people in general.

in Internet safety taught at school - mandated by the state on Granite Geek
In the end I think the focus should be "Internet responsibility" or "Internet exploration" not just safety issues. This way it could be incorporated alongside the regular curriculum that teaches kids how to do research, network online, etc.
As Virginia sees the importance of educating teens and parents about Internet safety, it is more important that parents take the need for this seriously: be informed, be involved. I urge parents to take advantage of the helpful resources out there about Internet safety. A little knowledge goes along way.
For more information on children's Internet safety, check out some of these blog posts. I'd love to hear your comments:

in The Sad Tale of Eliot Spitzer on Weight Upon The Lord
Thanks for posting the quote. Very insightful. I love the part where he says, "We must have the Spirit, men, and we must strive for holiness, both personally and in the embrace of the local church."
Often we think of "having the Spirit" as being a purely individual promise of the New Covenant. I've not done an exhaustive study of this, but in several cases in the New Testament, the idea of the Spirit's ministry is spoken of in the context of the Body of Christ.
"Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple" (1 Corinthians 3:16-17).
The "you" is plural in the Greek language. To some degree the reason why accountability and confession are important features of the Christian's life is that the power of the Spirit, to some measure, is found in the church, not merely as an individual trying to stand in the Lord's strength alone.
Discipleship also plays an important role in all of this as well. I blogged about this at http://www.covenanteyes.com/blog/2008/02/11/whe...
Thanks again for the thoughts!

Thanks for the helpful information. I work for a company called Covenant Eyes and we make Internet accountability and filtering software. This legal issue is a sticky one for sure. I hope that in the end the government can help to put good resources in the hands of parents to protect children.
