Thanks Dr. Dixon!
I went straight to the link that describes the "categories" of the AAs that they polled.
It's a very, very politically correct survey. The study categorizes only those who can BUY things "legitimately."
There is no category for the 50% of AA teenage males who drop out of high school, nor the AAs currently imprisoned or the "thugged-out" class...We do not count to "these" marketers.
I'm still reading...

Ginsberg and Stevens were in the minority on that decision. Kennedy was the swing vote.
Is it good leadership? You can not lead if you do not win...

LoL @ s. who said...
My guess would be that [Obama] would continue to appoint judges in the mold of those who rendered the majority opinion in that case.
So you're saying that Obama would appooint Scalias and Thomases to the court like George W. Bush wanted to do. Hunh? Are you out of your ____ mind?
And s. also said...
But don't you know that Obama is trying to make a play for Evangelical voters?
Sure, he's making a play for evangelical voters. It's called "politics." Barack Obama is a politician. He seeks to win elections.
For all of the FISA-feely types, say that Barack voted against it and a terrorist strike occurs before the elections...Bush and McCain could hammer *O* for leaving America vulnerable by not supporting the bill.
Barack is "covering his bets," as any good politician should do.

The death penalty is the greatest hypocrisy of the Religious Right.
How can you accept the teachings of Jesus Christ and endorse the death penalty? What would Jesus do? Would he pull the switch? Would he give the injection?
People who call themselves Christians and accept the death penalty based on "old testament" doctrine really, really need to check themselves...that includes Barack Obama.
That being said, i'm still supporting him though I strongly disagree about this issue.

Hey Mr. Dixon,
I agree with most of what you said, but I think you're being a little too harsh on DNA.
I would need too see more details about this study before accepting it as an accurate reflection of reality.
I would want to know exactly who did they poll. Something tells me that RadioOne didn't have pollsters in every area of our community.
Just to play the devil's advocate here, "If we're not all alike, then why did we vote overwhelmingly for Barack Obama?"

In my mind, it's going to boil down to either Webb or Clinton.
Webb does need to be thoroughly cross-examined about his "Confederacy" issues, but if he can prove that he LOVES/Supports Obama's principles more than being nostalgic about "Robert E. Lee," he will have my enthusiastic support.
People need to remember that Franklin Roosevelt built a coalition including the racist Dixiecrats in the South in order to win in 1932.
At this point, I don't think that Obama's VP selection will have any significant impact on the outcome of the election. This race is going to be about Obama or McCain.
However to govern effectively and have a "pitbull" who will help ram legislation through the Congress, it will definitely NOT HURT to have a VP who can speak to the needs of Nascar-loving, Confederate-flag waving, republican-leaning white males.
If he survives the scrutiny of the media checking on his "issues," then Webb is the perfect choice.

If I were Barack Obama (and let's all be thankful that I am not Barack), I would've gone around that room and given the CBC-Hillary-Diehards the kiss that Don Michael Corleone gave his brother in that scene from G-dfather Two...then I would have yelled, "I KNOW IT WAS YOU FRADO! I know it was you."

@s,
"100 years of war in Iraq" is concrete, cohesive policy...
Offshore-drilling along the Florida coast will do more "for the greater good than for [McCain's] own personal and political success."
I trust *O*'s judgment....I remain undisappointed and quite proud.
The only thing that 's got me somewhat disappointed tonight is that KSM went to an HBCU (NCA&T;).

@ ms. martin,
Honestly, i didn't read the comments. I scanned the verbiage and sensed the vibe...May I be honest? I may have had a couple of drinks, but i don't feel "no ways tired," nor foolish.
Since I did not read your comments, I will not generalize on your character or declare you "foolish." However, I will share with you a few similes that best describe my sentiments for Obama-doubters at this stage of the game:
Obama doubters are LIKE....
NAACP Protestors in 1985, outside of movie theatres showing THE Color Purple, attacking it for it's depiction of black men.
Obama doubters are LIKE...
Crabs in a barrel, trying to yank the crab-on-top back to the bottom.
After all is said and done, The Color Purple is regarded as one of the best pictures of all times among AAs...and the crab with the big *O* is going to climb out the barrel....no matter what the other crabs may say or do.

I disagree man...I'm pretty liberal and the NYT really went too far by publishing that dude's name. I'd rather be Salmon Rushdie [sic] than that dude. My bet is that that story will be absorbing much of the MSM attention next week and don't be surprised if Brian Williams leads with it tomorrow morning on MTP.
BTW, I haven't had a chance to read the Obama-doubting-keep-him-accountable-to-the-AA-community comments....All I got to say his:
Let's get *O* in the White House and worry bout some of this shyt later. I didnt make reservations to see ancient ass McCain take the oath on 1/20/09.

Just finished reading a fascinating article on "our CIA" and the interrogation of Khalied Sheik Mohammed...(NOTE: I hope the National Security Agency will not be knocking on my door later tonight for typing KSM's name on JJP. I'm going to put a flagpin on my underwear as a just-in-case).
...I usually gloss over these stories, but this one is pulitzer prize reporting.
However, I'm very troubled by the NYT's decision to publish the name of the interrogator (whose name I shall not repeat). I think that was a bad decision...if and when Bush decides to martyr KSM, generations of Al-Qaeda devotees gonna be chasing after that dude.
Time 4 me 2 start drinking...
-Cheers

Let me try and break this down...what Barack Obama has done in selecting Patti Solis-Doyle is biblical.
For better or for worse, the Clintons have left a long trail of bitter people in their wake...Barack is offering Hillary a "King Solomon Test"...
King Solomon Test - Two women claim to be the mother of the same child and yet one must ultimately decide what's in the best interest of the child or the baby dies...I'll refer you to wikipedia for more details...
Can Hillary make peace with her former campaign manager whom she unkindly "showed the door?"
Can Hillary make peace with all of the AAs who say they will never vote for her (even as a VP)?
Because if she can not make peace, any VP aspirations will be dead.
Ooh, I wish I had a church, I'd surely preach about this...it's easy to understand why Roland Martin was all over this...
Political junkies have to love this because it's so beautifully orchestrated in the best traditions of Machiavelli and Don Corleone...it gives us a hint to how Obama will deal with domestic politicians and global tyrants...He will "make offers that [people] can not refuse."
I love me some *O*

Tim Russert R.I.P.
Wow, we got some real programming geniuses on here.
I like the idea of redemption for Dan Rather...but you would have to atleast "offer" it to Brokaw first...and Brokaw (bless his heart) has been missing something lately...he's really been exhausted during this mourning period...yesterday, he said that the Buffalo Bills played in the Rose Bowl, i'm worried for his health too.
If you just wanted someone who is a tough mofo journalist, I'd go with any of the following:
Steve Kroft (60 Minutes)...boring
Howard Kurtz (CNN-Reliable Sources)
Bernard Goldberg (HBO Real Sports/Fox)
...wonder if Bryant Gumbel might be interested in MTP? Bryant returns to NBC...wow, that would be some wild shyt. His editorials on Real Sports are always "off-the-chain."
All of this speculation is interesting...notice how it is nearly superceding the Veepstakes...
NBC will probably give the next host (likely David Gregory) a three-year contract (through the 2010 midterm elections).
My condolences to the Russert Family...hope their not reading JJP today.

Charlie Rose on MTP would be a demotion. Charlie needs to stay right where he is...we almost lost him last summer to a clogged artery.
Keith Olbermann needs to stay right were he is too. He's battling O'Reilly for first place and needs to help defrock the FoxNews Network once and for all...
I did not realize there was so much pent-up frustration toward Gregory...reading some of the comments makes me question the wisdom of selecting him. I once saw Gregory on Bill Maher, and was pleased with his performance.
Inspite of his Imus reactions and Karl-Rove kissin-up, i'd still place my $$$ on him being installed to the throne.
Hasn't Gregory guest-hosted MTP more than anyone else? That's the most reliable indicator of succession at NBC...and he's young and cheap, just like Russert was when he got the post.
Lastly, I highly doubt that NBC will allow it's most prestigious political franchise to go UN-helmed during what's being called, "The Most Important-Historic Political Event in the Last 50 Years."
If i'm Capus, Zucker, or Immelt, then I'm probably thinking, "Let's go with Gregory--the 'safest' choice."

At first, I was wondering if ChuckyT could grow into the role, he may be too much of a "numbers guy" for Capus, Zucker & Immelt--I like Chuck.
The next moderator must be a prosecutor...a fair prosecutor. The most likely candidate is David Gregory.
@rikyrah...
Aaron Brown totally slipped my mind...but you're absolutely right. HE WOULD BE GREAT! I'm sure that the CNN Experience changed him/toughened him...he would be well suited to take the helm and maintain the show's caliber/prestige.
@town...
Tavis Smiley would have been ideal...had he not fugged up with Obama. Tavis Smiley is now NO better than a hillary-lovin CBC member trying to retain their seat in the 2008 cycle.

I'm not quite ready to dismiss Jim Webb from VP consideration...I really wish that Tim Russert (Lord Rest His Soul) were still around to grill Webb about the confederacy (and misogyny) and give us a look into Webb's soul.
I will never forget how Webb took apart Lindsey Graham on MTP...Webb is one of the most dangerous weapons that the Democratic Party could ever wield against the Republicans.
There are really just two "tough" mu____kas left in the party now...Jim Webb or Hillary Clinton. Unless there is some unknown person waiting in the wings, everyone else just seems boring or weak to me.
