in How To Get Repeat Visitors To Your Blog on Work From Home Business Blog
I really like the advice to not over focus on keyword phrases. I hate when I see people keyword stuffing a post. I think basic measures like keyword density are a waste of time. Not only does normal writing allow you to write for your readers, but you can work in a large number of related keywords, long tails and semantically related keywords. This allows you to rank for more phrases and can attract more visitors than just stuffing. And because the content is good, they stick around.

Peter Lee Justin,
Thanks for dropping by. Yes keyword stuffing can land you in trouble and this has been openly mentioned by Google as well. I like your mention about writing for your readers. Most times, people forget this and focus too much on SEO.

in Google LinksTen Commandments | BPWrap on BPWrap
Solid list of commandments. I really thing it varies on the goal of the site. Many MMO types are looking for a quick buck and could care less about the long term. But any site that wants to out perform all the various slaps Google performs to various linking building methods, should follow these. At the end of the day, only quality contextual related links can go the distance without concern for getting slapped by Google.

I don't get too concerned about splogs. They're annoying when they show up in SERPS, but I'm ok with them scrapping me. Just be sure to include lots of internal links in your post content, and you get free low quality backlinks. And as long as your site has enough authority, there isn't much chance of them out ranking you for your own content. It does sucks to get scrapped by an authority site though when you're new.

Solid advice, but I think it really depends on the type of site. I agree that in order to find true and long term success, you need to produce quality content, have a great design, and optimize your content for search engines. That is a great formula la for flagship style blogs, but it does work well for all niches. Some niches are just hard to link bait and no matter how much content your produce, you have no chance of getting a Digg. In that case, you have to get really creative with your marketing.

in Wordpress Blog Hacked | BPWrap on BPWrap
I'm lucky enough to have never had a blog hacked. I have a web design / programmer friend who hacks people sites for fun. I don't really get it, but he seems to have no problem with it. Ever since I've started teaching him about SEO, he hacks sites to insert links, which is really crappy in my opinion. I know a few people who sites have been hacked to bits, and its a lot of work to get everything back to normal.

Very nice list. I don't agree with every point but its important to always be thinking ahead and preparing for possible changes. I think there is a lot to be said about social media, hand held devices, personalized search, and natural language.

I do think the term SEO will transform. SEO is already becoming more about link bait and buzz generation. Its more about website optimization and PR imo.

in How Will Advertising Influence Mobile Web Growth? on StayGoLinks
I'm not looking forward to a development in mobile ads. As long as they stay out of the way (like Google text ads), it won't be so bad.

Looking forward to seeing increased development of Google in this direction.

lol at the “Cornerstone Church Knoxville Cult" phase. I do SEO on a lot of sites, and I'm always finding some weird phrase people find my sites from. Many times its not really related to my site.

great post

I saw a video not too long ago (end of 2007). Matt from Google was talking about the future of SEO in 2008, and of the 3 things he listed, he notes mobile devices as one of them.
