in Satchel: A new way to interact with 37Signals’ Backpack emerges for PalmOS users on Thought Stream: Nitin Badjatia's Weblog
Krishna,

Backpack is ok, but I've moved over to Remember the Milk, primarily because it can be integrated with gmail on a firefox browser. YMMV, so the best thing to do is try an application for some time before giving up on it.

in Great 67 point rant on why Outlook sucks on Thought Stream: Nitin Badjatia's Weblog
Stan -

I can't imagine anyone who doesn't have a legitimate gripe (or 67) about Outlook. What is impressive is that you've carefully documented all of them. That has to be appreciated. I doubt that MS will listen, but I am grateful everyday that, at least, I don't have to deal with that god awful Lotus Notes in a work setting.

Your online application looks really good. I'll have to dig deeper into Comapping when I get a chance. Thanks for stopping by.

in Off to India… on Thought Stream: Nitin Badjatia's Weblog
Desh,

Yes, real estate seems to be the biggest negative at the moment - both from a purchase and rent view. From the purchase side, it seems that the real estate bubble has reached absurd levels in many metros. On the renting side, rents aren't cheap either.

Keep reading, I plan to post often...

in Nokia N800: Not really for the rest of us (yet) on Thought Stream: Nitin Badjatia's Weblog
Hotel Guy - I think the N800 is a good attempt at moving to true mobile connectivity. The evolution is clearly underway with iPhone. The problem with both, in my opinion, is that they are still early stage solutions and lack the necessary ingredients (a real keyboard for example) to assure mass market success.

in Is Nokia reading this weblog? on Thought Stream: Nitin Badjatia's Weblog
Deep,

The N800 ships with a very basic writing application, and nothing else. There are several open source applications that have been ported over to the N800. You can find that list at www.maemo.org.

Mindmeister does look very interesting. I just received a private beta login from them, and will post a quick review shortly.

in Mindmapping with FreeMind on Thought Stream: Nitin Badjatia's Weblog
Harry -

I've tried NovaMind in the past, and it is quite good. It is also platform dependent, and my goal is to wean myself off of any particular platform, which makes FreeMind an ideal candidate.

I also think that many people shy away from mindmapping applications because the commercial ones tend to be expensive. FreeMind is, well, free. Not a bad way to dip your feet into the mindmapping waters, if you ask me.

in Omnidrive and Zoho hookup to give us a glimpse of the future on Thought Stream: Nitin Badjatia's Weblog
Nik,

Thanks. I'll send the details of my experience to Omnidrive. For the readers here, basically the challenges that I've seen so far with the integration have to do with Firefox 2.0 locking up on occasion, and some Word documents sent to Zoho timeout during the process.

in PearBudget: An elegant alternative to managing personal budgets on Thought Stream: Nitin Badjatia's Weblog
Hi Skit,

I've moved on from PearBudget, as the biggest challenge we had was giving access to the spreadsheet to both my wife and I. I imported the base Pear spreadsheet into Google Spreadsheets, from which both of us can access the spreadsheet without having to keep an offline version in sync. I'd be interested in seeing an online budget tracker (a secure one) as I'm increasingly moving my key data tools to the cloud.

in Just got an invite for Gmail for your domain on Thought Stream: Nitin Badjatia's Weblog
Catsher,

I think you can request an invitation for the Gmail for your domain service directly from Google. They aren't issuing these in the same viral marketing method that gmail expanded.
