in Spanish Wine Tasting, Part 2: A Welcoming, Friendly Affair in Valencia on Catavino
Pétalos is one of those wines that always makes it in to "good value" lists and generally gets good scores - but it's never been my cup of meat. In the spirit of open mindedness, however, I get a bottle every year just to see what's going on. The 2007 (what's on most shelves now) is the 4th vintage I've tried and I'm now changing my tune - if you let this thing get enough air (I'm talkin' a day, day and a half) it turns into a really nice syrah/northern rhone kinda thing. For 11€ that's not a bad thing.

in Sampling Sherry and at the London Wine Store: The Sampler on Catavino
If it's easier for you to get to Madrid - there is a smart card sampling machine at the Lavinia shop in Madrid. The last time I was there it was nicely stocked - a good mix of interesting new stuff and pricey/old stuff. I have asked if/when the Barcelona store might do something similar - I was told they can't get the license for it. Bummer!

Try living with a Valenciana! So far it has taught me too things - one, there is no such thing as paella outside of Valencia (the others are just "rice dishes") and two, tio Enrique can put whatever the hell he wants in a paella and it will still be authentic!

Where did you get your information on the size of the windfarm?!?! It is my understanding that the project will be 400 megawatts. Although it is not known which turbine will be used, the rated capacity of a single offshore turbine these days is 3-5 megawatts. Inconceivable that they would put up a single, 1 megawatt turbine, even as a pilot phase...please, dig a little deeper.

As far as an "OK offshore wind farm by American standards", as we have yet to build one this seems pretty irrelevant. You're right about siting issues and distance to shore/connecting to the grid but as for the size of the project - the majority of offshore projects currently in development (Europe and US) are several hundred megawatts on average.

To clarify, Neyras Restaurant will charge a €10 corkage/service fee for any wine bought from Neyrus Vins. At first glance I read Gabriella's comment as "any wine in the shop for €10" - Finca Dofi? Mas Doix? Yes please!
