in Mahalo’s Answer to Yahoo Answers? Cold Hard Cash on USWeb
I wonder what market share Mahalo has now? I read the other day that Yahoo Answers owns 90% of the "answers" market share.

I think what he means by enhancement is building links to the pages that are linking to you.

in How one blog comment can bring you 230+ unique visitors on How To Make My Blog
We actually offer blog commenting as a part of our services for our clients. We do not spam clients, instead we learn their business and try to make solid, informative comments on appropriate blogs. The results have been excellent both from a link building and traffic perspective.

in Paid Links - No Longer Worth the Cost? on Marketing Pilgrim
It would be great to get some detailed definitions from Google, but it will never happen. I feel sorry for the 100' of thousands of website owners (SMBs)who do not even understand search optimization or know that there is even such a thing as Google Guidelines or Webmaster Central. They can be penalized and innocent at the same time.

in How to Get the Most Out of LinkedIn on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
I have been on LinkedIn for a long time and only recently have I really learned how to take full advantage of it. I have generated leads for our business, found old friends, reignited past business relationships and contributed to the community. It is the one social media I site I actively participate in.

in ProBlog Power Tools List Blog Pingers Blogging Software 172 blog things on Mich D dot Network Weblog
Very impressive list - lots of work. So what do you think is the single best multi-ping tool?
MichDdot The best would depend on your needs. If you have multimedia or international base the largest distributions make more sense. On the other hand if your english based with majority text or image content some other options serve your needs, doing more with less. Autopinger is the easiest of course, if your list of sites is modest it takes the headache out, if your list is large it may be your only option to save time.

in Portal Feeder vs StomperNet on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
Andy,
I know this is an older post, but I was surfing around trying to dig up some info on how Google felt about membership groups like StomperNet and PortalFeeder and my search led me here.

The bottom line to these programs is helping build links to member sites (I know the offer other good stuff too). I love the concept, but something tells me Google frowns on this.

It would be easy for Google to join, discover the members and then penalize them. Any thoughts on why they don't (seem to)? Is that they don't feel this is spammy -- more cooperative?

in Purchase Links or Build Website Networks? on Marketing Pilgrim
I am a big advocate of "own it" rather than "rent it", so I would support any company initiative to build high quality, niche sites supporting their marketing and link building efforts.

in Blogrush – Free Blog Traffic – In depth Review on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
Was just getting ready to add this to my blogs and thought I better see if there are any reviews or better widgets that are similar. Glad to see you were all over it.

Now that it has been a couple months, do you still recommend it? I see it is still on your site.

Knowing Reese, I take it his goal is to build a huge subcriber list and an ad platform?

Andy Beard I believe using the various plugins that have sprung up it is possible to achieve a 1% CTR, which wouldn't necessarily mean that a widget as a whole achieves 5%

A lot depends on placement

The biggest problem is public perception. If people think the sites they click on will be junk, they won't click, so detractors are creating a self reinforcing circle of destruction.

It doesn't bring in huge amounts of traffic, but then I predicted the CTR would be less than 1%.

I suppose currently I get between 0.2 and 0.5% CTR on appropriate stories without using plugins.

Currently referral credits are not being used and there are lots of bonus credits in the system from above the referral network, as all slots have to be filled.

I still believe John will make it work.

I hope Google doesn't buy GoDaddy. GoDaddy is a fun company with incredible support. I would hate to see anything that would disrupt that.

BTW - I added the Google stuff to one of my blogs this morning and it worked perfectly.

At this point this probably falls into the "beating a dead horse" category, but I just took a look at some directories to see what the PR hit. Most of the major players like Yahoo, Business and BOTW held their PR. But here is a random list of others that did not.

Just more data points...

in Digg Favorites Slapped By Google on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
You gotta just love the www.YouTube.com pagerank. Still sits at 3. This isn't over by a long shot. I think it is going to get pretty messy for Google.

We took a look at the article directories -- all of them lost 1 to 3 notches. No big surprise there tho.

Also pretty funny how all of us claim not to really care about PR, but this one post has 116 comments.
