@Michael: Thanks for the reading michael, and yes I am thankful I didn't get the full force from the hurricane, but it was the oddest weather I've ever seen in this area. The wind just blew nonstop at 80 mph for 8 hours. It didn't seem like it would ever let up, it was very ominous.

There were so many sirens going off, and you could hear trees snapping all around, it was actually pretty scary. I actually saw three squirrels fly past my window, poor guys lol.

@ChaCha Fance: For me I went into the pingpressfm settings manager - I make sure at the bottom that all the triggers are set to 'on' and are green - then you absolutely must also press the UPDATE OPTIONS button or the new settings won't be saved.

My mistake I believe is that I was only hitting the UPDATE TRIGGER BUTTON. lol... It's stupid now that I know my mistake... hope that helps your situation. Best of luck!

@ML Chelsea: My pleasure Chelsea. It's been wonderful working with your company. I neglected to mention how good the customer service is at market leverage - as you can see by this comment they actually reach out and stay informed with their members.

They generally give you a call when you change information on your account, just to make sure its legit, and they are always there when you need advice.

It's like pulling teeth to get a response from google or yahoo.

Hale: I can definitely understand your skepticism, and I appreciate your comments, I've been burned in MLM before as well - when I initially took a 'test drive' I didn't even use my real number - I hate to be called about stupid stuff. It's the fact that I have 140+ members in my powerleg that made me take the plunge.

For $19 a month, it's not like it's a huge amount of money to waste either I make that every day with my blog even if I don't write a post that day. Trust me, if it does turn out to be scammy - I'll pull it and let everyone know my two cents on the matter as well. I'll keep ya posted anyhow.

@idyllicphilosophy: I'm a democrat who doesn't support abortion. Except in cases of incest and rape. I believe that we need to focus a lot more on education, and that those who do go through with an abortion should go through an 'awareness' course that advocates adoption and responsibility over abortion.

I also believe that parents should be notified at least 48 hours before. Also dems are not going to hike taxes. Fact Obama will lower taxes unless you're rich, or a corporation, I believe corporations are taking advantage of people who only earn $10 or less. I think people should be earning enough to actually live on and support a family on a single income.

The economy was great under clinton, and is a failure now as a result of failed policies and deregulation by reps. As for universal healthcare if slowing down immigration - I believe that we need to make immigration not the big issue - but have every illegal become papered and give them a certain time limit to be here to get their crap together. what should be illegal is immigrants getting paid under the table, and not paying taxes. They should also not receive any tax breaks, and companies should be prosecuted severely for using immigrants.

What we need is a system to make sure immigrants are paying taxes too - maybe even switching to a national sales tax with deductions for American citizens only, and based on income.

Sure 95% of blacks voted for Obama - but 87% voted for John Kerry, which means only 8% more voted for Obama. Obama had a better get out the vote campaign, and won hands down among younger voters.

Sarah Palin doesn't even know which countries are in NAFTA, and John Mccain is extremely old, I believe Obama won because John Mccain made some major mistakes, Sarah Palin being #1, and siding with Bush 90% of the time as number 2.

I'm excited for the next 8 years, and you're gonna have to get used to it -- the Democrats are now in control, and the country is gonna finally be fixed.

Even John Mccain acknowledged that Obama is a decent Christian man, and that they just have differences in opinions on how things should be run. You said he wants to protect the land where he came from - Kansas? Is Kansas no longer part of the union, do they need some protection. Is he going to protect them from tornado's?

And Obama was not elected just by race, only 8% more blacks voted for Obama than voted for John Kerry in 2004. I guess you also don't believe in the constitution, which gives the freedom of religion - where if Obama were a muslim he should be granted the same rights as all other citizens in this great country. Do I have any idea what his policy is? Go to Change.gov there's about 3-5 pages on every policy issue he plans to implement. For someone who's done his research, I think you would've known that.

As for Bill Ayers - he is on the board of a charity that has many ties to many different republican officials as well -are they terrorists too? If you attended school with a terrorist does that make you a terrorist - because I'm certain terrorists have attended many of the best schools in America including yale, harvard, stanford - one of which George Bush himself graduated - is George Bush a terrorist?

Maybe you should think before you speak - as I mentioned to the other guy you should also probably attend a four year college, or at least a grammar class and fix your punctuation. You may always be a rude dumbass, but at least you'll have your grammar covered.

Palin a good choice? Not only did she bankrupt the Mccain campaign with her clothing sprees, but she didn't even know she was being pranked when they mentioned Nailin Paylin - hustler's Sarah Palin Parody. She didn't know whether africa was a country or continent. She didn't know which countries were in NAFTA - and if you don't then it just shows how intelligent you are as well.

She didn't know what magazines she reads for crying out loud, and instead claims to read all of them. My guess is she doesn't read at all. She didn't even answer any of the questions she was asked at the debate and instead only answered questions that she picked before hand.

According to CNN polls Biden won that debate. I'm white. I did not vote for Obama because he's black. Heck I don't even consider him black. I consider him a man who can incite hope and belief that change is possible.

I voted for Obama because I believe in him, and we cannot have 4 more years of Bush economics. Bush has already ruined the whole country - we can't take anymore. America could not survive it.

I voted for Obama because it's time we got on board with the rest of our allies, and get universal healthcare. They understand that all people should have the right to get help if they have Cancer.

1.2 million jobs were recently lost - that's 1.2 million families who now don't have health care coverage anymore. That's a crisis that's not being talked about.

I am one white guy who would've voted Hillary if I had to - but I preferred Obama over Hillary by a lot.

@Justin: That poll does show that a high percentage of highschool dropouts did vote for Obama. The poll also shows that Obama got a higher percentage of College grads too. Shows he's popular across the board. I guess I stand corrected.

No HS: 63% (4% of the total vote)
HS Grad: 52% (20% of the total vote)
Some College: 51% (31% of the total vote)
College Grad: 50% (28% of total vote - mccain only got 4%)
Post Graduate: 58% (17% of total vote)

I think these numbers just go to prove that people from all walks of life believe in him over Mccain.

What a true mandate from the people. Makes me proud to be American - for the first time since 9/11.

@Andrea J. Stenberg: Commenting is a great way to build connections, I'm not discounting that aspect of it - I say work commenting into your daily activities and schedule if you can. Just don't let it take away from creating new content.

I know I for one was guilty of trying to find things to do to build my blog, instead of just writing. I got to a point where I made a decision to just write and my blog has taken off like none other.

I would suggest setting a time amount for blog commenting daily, and sticking to that. The fact though is - to be truly successful you should be posting at least 3 blog posts daily, or 21+ posts per week.

The other point of the post is that DoFollow no longer has any benefit for link-building. Google can tell if you're link-building and may even penalize such activities if you appear scandalous. Comment if you like the article - but don't look for DoFollow blogs to comment on anymore - there's no point - Google knows better.

As for the draft - you ever hear of the movie Stop Loss? Soldiers who are done with the war being sent back without their consent? They've volunteered to serve their country, they come home to a hero's welcome and get shipped right back out - many end up dieing.

That's the thanks that George W Bush gave them for their service. That sounds a lot like a draft to me as well.

As for Obama's books they are a memoir of his life, and I'm sure he's had thoughts about his place in this world related to his race. Black people are treated bad sometimes because of their race - the brilliance is that he transcends race and reaches out to all people.

As for healthcare being a right - all people are given to the right to fairness in life. Healthcare is something everyone needs, and should be a government issue. In the founding days of the country Medicine wasn't as costly and most Doctors just worked out charging what people could afford to pay.

If everyone had universal healthcare then people who have minor issues would not clog out emergency rooms, it would save the whole hospital system billions. The only ones against Universal Healthcare are insurance companies and prescription drug companies - because we all know they have our best interest at heart. (If you believe that I have some magic beans I'd like to sell ya).

I also agree with him about the sensitive nature of arab americans and pakastani american relations in America, they are automatically blamed for something they had nothing to do with. The number of Arabs responsible for 9/11 are miniscule maybe less than 10% of the worldwide Arab populace. I'm not an expert and I don't know how many people are in the Taliban and Alquaida - but I can guarantee that group is the sole responsible entity.

The keyword is Pakistani American - they are American citizens who just happen to have Arabic or Pakistani ethnicity. just because their parents came from some place else doesn't make them a terrorist. That's as bad as Hitler saying all Jews are dirty and need to be cleansed by fire and gas.

Again I go back to healthcare - there are 1.2 million people who've lost their jobs in the past few months alone. 10 Million in the past few years. All of these people are without insurance. When they get sick they will be forced to go to the ER. In the ER their care costs tax payers and insurance members about $1000-$3000 per instance.

If they had universal care - they could go to a family practicioner and only cost the system $150.

The system is majorally flawed - even the Medical Association and 90% of Physicians are backing universal healthcare. They know that it's something we need now. It works in England, Canada, Germany, France, Sweden, Japan, heck it even works in Cuba - Cuba has better health care than the USA. What does that say about our system - shouldn't we be the leader? Shouldn't we lead the nations and have the best of the best?

There was a time when America was the best of the best across the board - now we're ranked #37 out of 191 countries, and Cuba gets a higher ranking. When it comes to education we're ranked 14.

We will truly be great when those two numbers get closer to #1. That's the only way we will ever beat poverty across the board.

Yes I have, and all I got was automated replies and form letters, they have been no help at all. I even reported once that I had weird click activity - so that I couldn't get blamed for it and instead that may have actually led to my account suspension as if it's my fault when some reader of my blog clicks 10+ ads. If that's so I could latch out at competitor blogs by just clicking on their adsense ads and getting them in trouble.

"whites", "blacks", "yellows", "browns", etc are not inherently good, bad, pretty, ugly, evil, malicious, or any other thing - each person is created equal under god - and their independent decisions are what makes them good or bad. Blacks have committed crimes and murders, whites have, asians have, latinos have, indians have, etc etc etc.... the world is becoming a smaller and smaller place - we should all be able to live here peaceably together why fight over differences it's stupid.

Thanks - I actually wrote the post in 2007 -- but it was lost, and I'm getting 404 errors from it. I'm trying to fix my seo by making sure that all 404's at least post somewhere. Luckily the Wayback Machine has a copy of the content, so I'm reposting it, and linking to it via a 301 redirect.. I know complicated, lol.

This blog gets about 1000 unique hits daily and Blog Contest Site is growing pretty good as well and gets another 500-1000 unique hits daily. Majority of my money comes from aff networks like Market Leverage, CJ, and after that I get a lot from Adbrite.

My blog is highly social-fied - I'm writing an ebook on the subject but basically a lot of my traffic comes from social network from people who are interested in social media, but I do also get a lot of traffic from search engines. A good way to bring in traffic is to blog about hot topics that people are searching for a great plugin for this is postrank it's a plugin for firefox that will show you which topics in your feed reader are hot. A good thing to do is blog about those topics - don't copy but write the article in your own words and add your own opinion. I originally did post to some directories, and rss directories which may bring in some of the traffic, you can also use google trends to find good hot topics to blog about. If the topic is hot the search engine traffic will come. and yes a top level domain is absolutely huge. It's just $9 ($1 if you go with a .info domain, but there is a lot who suggest that .info's don't carry as much weight as .coms)

That's kind of what I was thinking - build a network of people with different skillsets, bring in people who submit their ideas, and build them, release them and see which ones take off.

There are actually two such services that I am aware of: #1 is Twollow where you can follow users who share the same interests by keyword, #2 is TwitterMass is a tool which helps you build your network on auto pilot.

What you need to do is where it says current trigger, you need to choose microblog.

Then set the trigger to active.

Add any changes to the way you want it to display mine looks like this:
[Blog] $subject: $slink

--- Now you need to click on Update Trigger.

THEN MOST IMPORTANTLY YOU NEED TO CLICK UPDATE OPTIONS at the very bottom under the yellow box -

I know it's stupid but I had the same problem you're probably having I kept updating triggers - but that only saves it
temporary then deletes it when you leave the page. You need to update the options too for it to stick.

I for one have a differing view, perhaps because I see successful bloggers, like Robert Scoble or Problogger who have thousands of followers, but also follow thousands.

To duplicate their success it makes sense to build up your followers, from a marketing standpoint.

To go along with that though, being part of as many conversations as possible will also help to get your name / brand out there.

I myself have similar stats --
Following 1,694
Followers 241
Favorites 2
Direct Messages 12
Updates 240

I tend to click on blogger's followers links and follow the same people that follow bloggers in my niche, like problogger, doshdosh, etc...

I've actually found a lot of cool people using this method, and had some interesting conversations, after only a week or so of using this technique,

I'd say my favorite is Zemanta, I also like WPSeo, PingpressFM, and Wordpress Automatic Upgrades is a definite must have utility.

First off I love skype and use it as my primary phone. Secondly, I don't like ebay. Thirdly, I'd like to see Skype survive at whatever it takes - I'm sure the original owners and developers would be much better at running it, but as long as it remains up - I'm good to go.
