in Cool Stuff: How did R2-D2 Get His Name? on /Film
That's nothing. Obi Wan Kenobi owes its name to the synthesizer used to create R2D2's "voice" - the Oberheim OB-1. Pics & info here: http://www.vintagesynth.com/oberheim/ob1.shtml

Check out the book "The Plausibility of Life" by Marc Kirschner (amazon.com), it does a good job of explaining how it all works.

Well, perhaps she'd rather waste her mind on months of media coverage of Jon-Benet Ramsey or the more recent case in Aruba. Maybe it's just me, but these things are news ONCE (per incident). So, after the initial news item, the Jon-Benet thing should not have ever come back until the case is solved ... same thing with the Aruba incident. On the other hand, EACH and EVERY death of a man or woman serving in the armed forces is NEWS. Sure ... it's similar to the news from yesterday, but it's NEWS. And the fact that we keep getting the SAME news ought to trigger something somewhere. But you are right ... it is a telling quote. "It's not relevant." Sad.
