Your work is incredible. I'm looking forward to reading your concert tutorial on Photoshelter. Looking at these images makes me feel like I'm right there at the concert.

Re: Visiting the Taiwanese Chinese medicine doctor – Eastern medicine in Taiwan

Hi Fili,

Just checking back in to see how you're doing and noticed you weren't able to catch my last comment. I really hope you're feeling better. I believe the Taiwanese medical community is top-notch even if some of the methods used seem a little strange. Hopefully, they'll have you back to normal soon.

Re: English language Taiwan blogs : The top bloggers 2007

Very cool Fili. This was a nice little year-end treat for me. I had no idea my blog was doing so well.

My Several Worlds isn't even a year old yet, and although I love blogging, I really don't know much about the whole process. I'm not sure what I've been doing to attract so much attention. I'm still trying to work up enough nerve to host my own domain but I don't know if I'm proficient enough with computers to do so at the moment.

Thanks again and Happy New Year!

Re: What You Learn When You Travel Solo

Hi Christine and Matt,

I just found your site because Matt has mentioned it several times to me over the past few days. It seems only fitting that the first comment I make on your site goes to him.

When I think back over the traveling I've done, my first thoughts go to those roads I traveled alone between 1996-2003: Argentina, Uraguay, Paraguay, Mexico, China and Thailand. Like Matt, the experiences I had and the people I met while traveling solo have led to unbelievable opportunities, strength and self-confidence, and an incredible sense of achievement. I love reliving those experiences through my travel journals, which are full of promise, hope, fierce independence and a love for anything new and unusual. There is nothing quite like traveling solo.

Then I met John in 2004. We've traveled together since then. He's my best friend and last month, he became my husband. I went through some of my old travel journals from that year while I was home, and they have pretty much remained the same. The only difference is that now, I'm lucky enought to have met someone who has the same dreams as I do. I share all of this with my best friend now. There is nothing quite like traveling with your soul mate, too. :-)

Carrie´s last blog post..January Links and Other Noteworthy News

Re: Falling in Love with Travel

A terrific post! Of course I love a perfect vacation, but I have to admit, there's something really special about a journey that is riddled with inconveniences, delays, and problems. In addition to making great travel copy, it's the journeys that challenge me that end up being most memorable in my books.

Re: A Year on the Road: Everything Changes

Congratulations on having your first year under your belt, Christine. It feels like I've been reading your updates for much longer. My first year abroad FLEW by. Now I'm coming up on my 7th year in Asia and I honestly don't know where the time went. What I do know is that the roads I have been on have changed, as have I. Diversity has become my middle name. Best wishes for your upcoming travels. I'm looking forward to reading about your second year of roaming the world.

Re: Twittering Dissent Around the World

The first time I realized the impact that Twitter is having on the world and on news as we know it was during the 2008 earthquake in Sichuan. The commentary you provide adds to your passion and creativity. I hope it isn't too presumptuous to make a small suggestion. Is there a font available that won't deter from the beauty of your photographs? I enjoy reading your travel notes but I find the font a little difficult. When I do create albums, I usually just include photos of friends who are on facebook and who I want to share with. The policy ticks me off, but I'm not losing anything I really care about greatly.

Facebook is a little creepy but it's still a great platform for staying connected with friends back home.

Re: San-zhr Pod Story @ File Magazine

Hey hey! Those are some crazy stories. I lived in China for three years and carried my LP around openly and I never had any problems.

I also had friends who brought contraband books into China and they never had any problems either.

Still, I don't doubt that it happens. Censorship is still widely practiced in China, from books to email, from websites and other news sources. I think it's sad that China's list of contraband goods is getting larger every day, when it should be getting smaller.

Re: The beautiful Betel Nut experience video : my first (and last?) time chewing Betelnut

I'm still laughing. I can't believe you had your friend call. That's so funny!

It always amazes me when I see stuff like this. I was working with a photography agency in Changchun, China. They specialize in wedding photography. For some reason, they provide English love quotes on their wedding albums, but the quotes are completely messed up and make no sense. Some don't have anything to do with being in love. I wonder if it's the same case. They just pick something that looks like it fits and add it without checking on the actual meaning.

Re: Taiwan Chinglish peculiarities – Fuck in Tainan

Hi Fili,

Thanks for contacting me earlier today.
