MsKitty Jayne Kennedy...that's a blast from the past. I wonder whatever happened to her, it's like she completely dropped off the radar after 1980.

Look at the New Yorker covers over the past few months...They have poked fun at his ears. They also had a cover where Obama and Clinton were in bed at 3AM. The New Yorker has been poking fun at pols for 100 years. This is nothing new.

Personally, I would love to see one of our own to get elected but if his campaign is that weak that it would be undermined by a cartoon...then he doesn't deserve to be president.

It's satire people! It's not supposed to be genteel anymore than Jonathan Swift's Modest Proposal. It's supposed to be over the top and absurd. Any more than Pryor, Carlin or Chappelle were. It's suppose to offend and spark conversation.

The idea was to show how absurd these rumors about Michelle and Barack are. To point out the 800 lb gorilla in the room. I'd say that's it's done their job.

The reason why you're all hot and bothered about it is because one of us is the subject. But if you and the campaign were as smart as I'd to think you are, you'd use this as to your advantage. To work with the New Yorker in showing how absurd these rumors are...instead of pouting and calling everyone and racist and whining like the Hillary folks about how the election is being stolen from them by the MSM.

There's no such thing as bad publicity. Let's stop playing checkers. The rest of the world is playing chess.

in About MLK being a Black Republican… on Jack and Jill Politics
Jackie Robinson was a Republican as well. So were a lot of black folks 50 years ago. So what?

Being a republican then is much different than it is now. You could have argued that Nixon was more liberal than Kennedy and Johnson in 1960. This is before Goldwater in 1964 and Nixon's Southern Strategy in 1968.

This campaign is going to go nowhere.

I'm not doubting that there's a chance for Henin to come back. She's only 25 and once she gets her personal life straight (her marriage broke up recently), I'm sure she could come back. What I took issue with was the Craig's implication that I'm somehow being duped by pundits...when the PLAYER IN QUESTION HAD A PRESS CONFERENCE TO ANNOUNCE HER RETIREMENT!!!

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/15/sports/tennis...

Now she could come back. But until she does, I'm going to assume that she's done. Call me duped by the MSM or the other evil media types you guys love to demonize.

The difference between Marvin, Jimi and this woman is that they performed the song they were asked to perform. She did not. Period.

Forgive me that I believe it when someone says that they're retiring that I take them at their word. And if she didn't retire what exactly did she do? Open my eyes to the truth, Craig...Please.

Regardless of what we're calling it...the bottom line is that one player who gave the Williams sisters fits isn't playing at the present time. So there's no reason why we can't see a repeat of this matchup at the US Open. Something I think we'd all love to see. Especially since American tennis sucks bigtime right now.

GreenLadyHere Mr. Bigsmittt72: Thank you "falettin'mejump" [taken from an "old school song :>)] in here a minute. Several atheletes & I'm sure other professionals have declared their retirment, had the party and toasted a good career! Next thing you see - "they're back". I can cite 3 examples: Martina Hengis RETIRED from tennis. She was a dominant foe--ranked 1st for a while. Severa years later she RETURNED. Michael Jordan[i think] did the same. Lyle Alzado - football RETIRED and RETURNED at age 40. Unfortunately he was on a 'roid regime and died from complications, as a result. There can be a number of reasons for their actions: "cash flow" issues - as in "I'm near broke"; maybe when they retired, they had an injury which they didn't want to make public at the time. Maybe they just felt that they we "young enoug" to give it another "go". Not that anything is predictable, it's just a wait and see matter.
Thank you for letting me "intrude". ">)

It's scary. If they actually took tennis seriously instead of all extra-curricular stuff, they would be ranked 1 and 1a for the foreseeable future. Particularly since Henin has retired. She was the only one that consistently gave them trouble. Particularly on clay. But neither play enough tournaments or keep themselves in the sort of game shape needed to do that.

That being said, they are amazing. Two of the best since Graf, Martina and Evert. They both would be in my top 10 all time.

Happy Holidays to all of you

With all due respect...this woman's actions do not deserve your serious analysis.

She was asked to sing the National Anthem. She should have sung the National Anthem. Period.

To qualify her actions and remarks is beneath this thread. She was wrong. Period. Let's start calling it like we see it instead of playing the victim/oppressed card to excuse the inexcusable.

And as I said before, she butchered the song. It was a pathetic publicity stunt.

I agree with the admiral. She is an idiot.

I was at the Yankee-Red Sox game when I heard the news. What a great day. The amazing thing is how people are continuing to describe him as this courtly Southern gentleman and continue to gloss over how divisive a figure he really was.

This man caused more damage in his lifetime than any controversial black leader you can name could do in 10. Yet he's still lionized? Unreal.

May he rot in hell.

Let's not play stupid and make excuses for this idiot. And that's what she is. An idiot. By doing that, it totally defeats any point that this simpleton was trying to make.

Noone is going to take her serious and hear anything she has to say. And it puts a beautiful song in a negative light...giving these right-wing idiots more ammunition.

When I was in grade school. We would sing the National Anthem and then sing Lift Every Voice. But it was a black school so it was understandable trying to instill pride in one's heritage like that. It was totally inappropriate in a government setting.

And on top of that, she butchered the song!!!

We need to stop making excuses for these idiots and come down on them like a ton of bricks.

cheryl aka jill tubman I actually first learned Lift Ev'ry Voice in my majority white elementary school interested in increasing general school pride in diversity and later also learned it again later at a majority black church. Lift Ev'ry Voice was never intended to be a substitute for the Star Spangled Banner but instead was a poem set to music which expressed Negro patriotism, strength, sorrow and courage in the face of intensifying government-sponsored oppression at the end of America's Reconstruction period.
