Thanks for the kind thoughts. You're right about the need to revisit the design of coastal and river flood protection, and dam safety, too. We should not wait until a thousand people die to say, "Hey, we oughta fix this!"

Thanks for blogging about New Orleans. Unfortunately, we who grew up watching television have a very short attention span. I once heard a song refer to it this way: "we feed our children with a cathode ray nipple... the only wet nurse who would raise a cripple." And this is critical becasue... because... I'll have to get back to you when I remember.

Thanks for blogging about New Orleans. We can rebuild our homes on our own, but we really need congress to fix the levees. Nobody will rebuild and live here if we don't get significant protection from future storms.

Thanks for posting this. Ernie is right--you have to see it to really understand how wide and deep the destruction is. I've been trying to write abou it, too, but it's hard to put it into words.
