in Asian BMI: How I Became Obese in Ten Seconds on 8Asians.com
Oh good grief, I'm already fighting to get my BMI down for transplant purposes and now there's this new scale?! Yikes.

Okay... where is it? Where's that chart (I didn't find one in the article you noted in your post). Gotta know how much more I need to sweat off...

And I'm curious... where do we (Asian-Americans) lie in relation to other races re: BMI?

Jeff, you and The Daughter looked great. All you needed was the spurs.

I've always related country music (and rock too, while we're at it) as "white people music" because you can't dance to it! It's still so foreign to me -- it's like "WHOSE country? Certainly not mine!"

And Ernie -- there are 16 and 32 Step Cha-Chas? I haven't been to a Pinoy wedding in ages -- where can I learn them?! :)

in “Avenue Q” Musical Scuttled in San Jose on 8Asians.com
What a huge bummer that the Bay Area won't be able to see this hilarious and very ADULT show that was especially written for anyone who remembers Sesame Street in their (not their children's) lifetime!

I was lucky enough to be in a project with composer/lyricist Jeff Marx at the Academy of New Musical Theatre in North Hollywood and then see the show in LA in his and his family's presence -- the guy is a kick and as down-to-earth as they come for being half of a pair of comedic/musical geniuses. The other half of that pair is Bobby Lopez who is half-Filipino -- to get to know these two and their amazing Broadway little-engine-that-could success on Broadway, check out the 2007 film "ShowBusiness: The Road to Broadway." Avenue Q even had a successful run in 2008 in the Philippines -- which shows you adults are really big kids all over the world!

My recommendation -- get the CD or download it from iTunes and have yourself a fab night laughing with the show audially, then RUSH out and get those tickets to the Sacramento show and enjoy it even more the second time when you add the visuals and especially the full frontal puppet nudity... ;) GO! DON'T MISS IT!

Hi there :)

I'm so glad I was able to watch the whole thing -- I guess you know that 2-3 minutes is the basic attention span people have for online videos otherwise you wouldn't have mentioned it! Right after you said that, you gave a whole thing informative thing on sleep I (as someone with lots of sleep issues) never knew... and I would've missed it because it was so late in this vid.

I'd rather see lots of short pieces on different topics, I'm more bound to listen to the whole thing.

Keep it up!

That was a lovely story -- I always felt intimated by labels too because my parents always bought everything from the Navy Exchange (bleech!). And thanks for recommending Zemanta -- I used it tonight to finally get me out of my bloggng funk. :)

Great to see you here! And tell The Daughter the most important thing is to be comfortable in your own skin, whatever that may be -- and that she's welcome to commiserate, learn and grow from Her Aunt. :)

in Welcome To The Simple Marriage World on Simple Marriage Test
Hi there, thanks for the warm welcome. :) I did come in from Zen Habits and I'm here so I can figure out it! What's that acronym -- SINK (Single Income No Kids) -- actually it's a SNINK for me -- NO Income as I'm just out of college after 30 years. Never married, but on a simpler path and want to include relationship... so this feels like the perfect place to be right now.

in Asian Americans going on a date in a Wells Fargo commercial on 8Asians.com
Yeah, this rubbed me the wrong way too. I watched it again thinking, "would it be different if it was a white wife"? and the answer is -- she'd just as cold and unromantic as the Asian wife (what kind of kiss was THAT at the door?).

Basically, it's not a very compelling commercial all the way around.
