Is this level of scientific training really necessary? Or is it a market created by coaches to make us believe that we need them to achieve our goals? I ride hard and it gets me good results - period. I don't see any need for all this periodization stuff. It's making it more complicated than it needs to be

they should have 1. fined him big time for bringing them in and 2. let them stay, they're no threat in a fish tank, and 3. make him pay for a yearly check the fish are still there (and fine him double if they're not). rfid tagging the fish might be a good idea too, the restrauant can pay for that too and it would detect dupicate fish if funny games are going on out of sight of the fish parole officer.

here in california i recently had my old crt/tv die. i knew i had to recycle it and was surprised that when i went looking there were dozens of places nearby that i could take it to or even have them come collect it. of course ca gov has a lot more red tape to set up all that infrastructure.

Even if JK didn't write Harry Potter with a computer the publisher must have it in soft copy as part of the publishing process so there's still no reason for not having an e-book except to maximize real book sales.

Boy, your ancient memory is really poor today. It was a 1954 Ford, with the V8 that would power the new 1955 Thunderbird the following year. Hydraulic? No, they were vacuum powered and did a good job until you went up a hill and the engine ate all the available vacuum. I finally sold it because it had a bad cam lobe.

i've always been interested in time. i guess it started when i realized i could set my watch to WWV which 30-40 years ago was the 'one true source'. now there's multiple accurate sources and having an accurate watch/clock isn't anything special. people are still late to meetings though so the importance of time hasn't become an universally important.

ps- i like your posts, they are an interesting alternative to David's.

Ham radio is still very important for emergency situations where regular communication isn't working. Also hams do a lot of the early exploring into new communication techniques. You don't have to be a 'rag chewer' and talk to other hams, there's plenty of other stuff to do in amateur radio.

I worked in electronics for several years and encountered mercury switches in several areas, the one I remember the most was in a Cruise Control kit sold to the public to add to their own cars. It included a mercury switch that was mounted at an angel leaning toward the front of the car, with the contacts at the top of the bulb out of the mercury. If you braked hard enough the mercury would be forced uphill, touching the contacts and thus deactivating the Cruise Control.

I used my real email address several years ago when posting to rec.guns. My address was harvested and to this day i still get 5-6k spams a month. I've directed that pobox.com address to a gmail account which does a good job of filtering out spam but that's still 5-6k trash emails wasting space in a spam folder until they age enough to be erased. I sure wish I had used a disposable address for public posting back then; I do now.

When I drove cross country to a funeral last summer I saw several of the Google cars with the camera on a short pole on the roof. This was on Interstates in the middle of nowhere like Nevada, Utah and Wyoming. Wonder where they were off to, or back from?

Every new $1 coin makes the same mistakes, they look too similar to quarters. The need to 1. take the $1 bill out of circulation and, 2. make a $1 coin that really stands out (like the Canadian Looney). If they did that the coin would succeed (once the vending companies stopped complaining) and it would also create demand for the little used $2 bill. I too like the $1 coins which I can only get as change from the post office vending machines but I have to look carefully so I don't use them as quarters.

I highly recommend using Sneakemail.com.

Give all those sites their own sneakemail address. When one of them releases the email to spam you'll know who it was. (This has happened twice to me.) Also email sent to the sneakemail addresses get routed back to your shielded address so you don't have to looking for the replies or setting up actions to go collect them.

Broadband over Powerlines have so far been a problem for any Amateur Radio operators nearby because those long unshielded power lines radiate noise. Since many emergency plans include the local Hams, this noise problem is also a problem affecting local emergency response plans.

Broadband over Powerlines, just say NO.

Also get 'PageDefrag' from Microsoft, I think it's a PowerTool (free). It'll defrag a couple of system files that might free up space a following normal defrag could use. Another good (free) defrag tool is JkDefrag. The command line version has a number of options so you can tailor how it runs.

Your TextBeast tool last week is very useful, thanks! It doesn't cut/paste from 3270 terminal sessions though.

If your test results are less than wonderful you can go to OpenDNS.org and use their instructions to change your DNS to theirs which is very good. Do it anyway, it's supposed to be faster and gives you a bit more control over the internet you're exposed to.

OpenDNS is recommended by the guy that discovered the cache poisoning problem that is the subject David's blog post.

I honestly think that a healthy Tatum Bell is a star running back in this league, and hopefully for the broncos. Nobody was saying this stuff about him when he was running over the Ravens and the Patriots, and carrying Ray Lewis on his back for 8 yards. When he gets healthy he'll be fine.

As far as the passing game goes, I've stuck behind Jake as along as I can. I have always been a Jake backer because he gets the thing that matters, and thats a W. But I think its time to give Cutler a shot. Our passing game can't get any worse! Oh yea, and maybe he'll get Rod involved more.
