in Lazy Launch Days Are Numbered on Marketers Board
I'm walking away from marketers who simply scrape your list or even worse... they promise to hard code the affiliate id during prelaunch but then somehow "forget" to include our affiliate id during their emails back out to the list - a list built by affiliates.
Bonuses make sense if it's something that truly complements the offer and you've reviewed the product to know what a good bonus would be.
Cheers.

in Twitter Populated By Drones And Fakes? on The Michel Fortin Blog
Good post albeit a bit long.
I turned off auto follow a couple of weeks ago and also turned off the "here's my gift" message that was in the auto-tweet.

Start with a shocker "WEB APPS ARE DEAD"...
...at least the old way of market research is over, and coming up with cool stuff no one wants is over.
Then show them the light
i.e. explain how they need to look beyond the application, to the social connections and conversations happening, how to discover what people are needing, where things are going, how to develop in parallel instead of serial, throw in some 37 signals development ideas that you like, you know what to do.
And send them off running
Challenge them to hustle the way you always do, and get them to go out there and "kill it" :)
Cheers.

This is so bang on ... that the classic old school corp. media peeps will miss it.
If your job title is something like "Corporate Media Buyer" you need to think about how much of what you spend is measurable.
If you can't justify the spend with realtime numbers, you need to get on the train coz it's coming at you fast.

in Social network ad spending projections take a dip on VentureBeat
Facebook and other social network ads *do* work but you need to think differently about how to advertise.
Ecommerce apps already exist for Facebook such as RadicalBuy and virtual store apps people can add to their profiles.
Also recently Affiliate Window announced a e-store wish list app that turns every Facebook user into a potential affiliate for their network of merchants.

in Lawsuit Against Rick Butts Red Herring on Rick Butts Show
1 - yes, 2 - no idea.
This whole thing is just growing.
It's hard to focus on the main issue...
Is it social media vs internet marketing? Product Launches .vs. Word of mouth? Affiliates .vs. Merchants?
Whatever it's about, it's a hornet's nest on Viagra and you've wacked it with a baseball bat.
I feel that in business and life - when you stay positive and try help people -> you are more successful.
If someone is being publicly negative towards your business it's better to come out and deal with it publicly and not w/ private emails/threats.
StomperNet is full of a great bunch of people and have a solid affiliate program, from what I've seen. It's real hard to comment further until we all see the facts, assuming you're allowed to post it publicly.
Why don't you get the ok to put it all out there on the table and let all parties battle it out live on your show in a cage match?
The challenge will be keeping it objective.
Should be a fun show and hopefully we're all stronger by the end of this debate, with winners all around.
Gotta go get some popcorn. The lights are dimming :)

in Twitter Faces Serious Problems on Social Times
I bet they're sitting around the servers every morning at 10am watching the load meter go up and thinking "omg please don't hit our max again" and "maybe we should reduce the 140 char limit to 120" and "oh nooo someone just told 10,000 more people about twitter" :)
They should take a page from the 37signals book and design the system's economics so that they are more than happy to take on more tweeters and scale up accordingly...
