in Dark Days Ahead For Blackburn, West Brom and Arsenal on EPL Talk
The gunners and villa seem to be pretty even as of right now. Both capable of great results but both are also very inconsistent. If the teams swapped places villa were part of the big 4 and arsenal looking to crack in, a lot more people would be betting on arsenal to make the jump than they are betting on villa to do it.
Eduardo is close to a return, there is a big chance Wenger will bring some one in this January, and I think with the armband on fabregas arsenal are looking better and better. That's not too say they will win the league. But i think they will do enough secure 4th and concentrate on champions league.

As for paul ince he's done. Prolly sacked soon so the new coach can try to find some players in the transfer window to save relegation.

And I don't think anyone would bet on west brom staying up, but who knows the relegation battles are always crazy.

I just think its amazing to see so much parity in the league.

in Gallas Stripped Of The Arsenal Captaincy? on EPL Talk
Gallas needs to go not only for his comments and attitude but his form in the back has been average at best. Not everything can be blamed on him but he is not only the captain, he is the supposed leader of a defense which has been very inconsistent and has leaked a lot of goals as of late...

in Julie Foudy: You Are ESPN’s Weakest Link, Goodbye! on EPL Talk
Foudy's "...lucky Gus should change his name to I'm damn good Gus..." today, made up for any of her failures during the earlier part of the tournament. That was classic and one of the best moments of the tournament outside of the football.

Foudy is better than Smyth and while she may not raise the quality of the broadcast she does not detract. She is to me a necessary part of the broadcast even if it is to just make Rece Davis not look so out of place.

I like the team. I only turn away when Smyth opens his mouth to say something about an onion bag.

in The 6+5 Rule Would Radically Alter Football, But Not in a Good Way on EPL Talk
This is stupid players want to go where the money is just like you and I want to go where the money is. Its unfair to tell players what to do. If they feel more comfortable at home and don't care about the money then they can can make that choice. Don't force them to.

A salary cap of sorts would be the most logical way to create parity and teams with more money could pour it into developing youth and facilities.

in MLS Needs to Bow to CONCACAF International when Scheduling on Major League Soccer Talk
I really don't understand what the mls is trying to do here. Are they just being stupid and stubborn? I don't believe there is one good reason for the mls not to limit their schedule during the CONCACAF games and FIFA blackout dates.

It hurts the US National team and it hurts the product the mls is trying to sell this is a no win situation without any rhyme or reason.

This is why i have concerns for the future of the mls.

in UK TV Ratings For Champions League Final on EPL Talk
If they move to a European league and have a playoff (two things that would never happen but would be amazing to see). They would challenge the WC.

in Rough Times For Soccer in the US? on Major League Soccer Talk
It is disappointing to see mainstream broadcasts of the mls declining while the quality of play is increasing. The new international players you mentioned Schelotto, Beckham, Gallardo, along with many other great domestic players are a lot of fun to watch.

In my opinion the mls is arguably more watchable soccer from a fan point of veiw than ever before. And it is a shame to see media attention and broadcasts at such a low level. With all the upside of new ownerships and more money and quality players in the league, it is still rarely featured outside of soccer specific media.

The mls needs more media coverage to reach a wider audience. I realize these things feed off each other, more interest and fans attract more coverage, but it requires a great deal of effort for a US fan to even casually follow the mls because of the lack of media coverage. The longer it takes for the the league to obtain media coverage the longer it will take to become mainstream.
