"BTW: Two black people. One died and the other was a psychiatrist. I consider that a wash."
That was my first big laugh of the day. Just totally tickled my funny bone. -C

in Life on Mars: Issue on Blackgeekdom
I feel you, black geek. I just have a problem with hotties in general. In the British version his original girlfriend is East Indian, sweet and normal looking. Then when he gets to the 73 world, he has a normal looking white brunette girlfriend. But that's Britain, which seems to have a sanity about actresses. In the US, everything has to be sexed up.

in Graphic Novel "Julius" Gets Optioned on Blackgeekdom
Oh my!!!! This sounds good. This sounds really good. Loved O! Never read the graphic novel but will definitely go see this flick. Hadn't thought of Julius Ceasar as being a good gangsta story but come to think of it...it's perfect. -C

in Quick Review: The Happening, well, more of a Quick Rant on Blackgeekdom
Makes me want to see it even more now. I always like M Night even when other folks don't. I think his stories are very rich and multi-layered and have yet to be disappointed once I've really studied one of his films. The need for us to see the twisty ending in his stories has ruined our ability to appreciate what he's doing. For instance, I was initially disappointed with the villagers because of its flat ::rolls eyes:: twist but after I thought of it I was really impressed by his story.
As for him believing in himself and being so self-impressed that he puts himself in great categories, no problem on this end. A writer needs to be cocky. And in the end, only posterity -- if it manages to exist with all the environmental issues going on in the world-- will tell. That's what makes B movies...
You may be right and it might be super-preachy but I can deal with preachiness. I'm hoping I like it.

in The Supernatural … Do You BELIEVE? on FredMcKinnon.Com
I too believe in the supernatural. We see so much of the devil's intervening into human lives nowadays. Why can't we accept that God and good can also intervene? I'm a Christian and a Bible believer. I totally believe that a) we are the temple of God and that God lives in me and when I speak his word with authority it is the same as Him speaking the words. Christ in me...the hope of glory. We should only believe. Which is hard in a world where we are taught to unbelieve. We were made for belief. But it's hard working our way back to that childlike faith. Plus we often don't do what Jesus has told us to do. "Believe that we HAVE received"? That's hard when we are taught that only what we see, feel, hear is true. "Command the mountain to move?" Equally hard because we are taught to believe that only God can command, or that actions are more powerful than words.
Great post. You showed that we christians are all battling...Lord, I believe. Help our unbelief. -C
