in noodad » Are Weaning Parties Going Too Far? on Noodad
I find it halarious how women get so offended. I as a woman I breasfed my child... For 6 months. Even I think breastfeeding for 5 years is creepy and I am sure will create some kind of complex for the kid later in life.
Breast are indeed intended to feed children, but they are intended to feed BABIES, not preteens.

I have seen them at walmart, but with the regular hand soaps. They were oddly placed in an end cap in the makeup and girly face wash section.

in noodad » Noodad Product Test Drive: Bumbo Baby Seat on Noodad
I got this seat when my son was about 3 months old, this thing has been a life saver. The best use I have for it is as a make shift highchair for when we visit friends and family. Who wants to cart around a huge high chair or even one of those strap to the table models. My sister and her husband employed the \"daddy as a highchair\" solution for a while before daddy got sick of wearing babyfood. Its so easy to just stick my 8 month old in this on the top grandmas kitchen table (supervised of course) to feed him his meal of bananas.

I love this site because its something that my husband will actually READ, other than all the other website geared toward women. I love how there is something out there with a sense of humor, and actual, honest, from eperiance, type of advice that keeps us both coming back for more. Thanks!

in noodad » Tips to Avoid Over-Grazing On Kids Meals on Noodad
When I was a kid my dad always told us to \"ruin our food\" which basically ment mooshing everything left over together and basically making the plate a big gross mess. He would joke with us and say that if we didnt do it they would serve it to someone else! We of course all responded with a resounding \"NO SIR!\" But we all got a kick out of it. I guess it kept us entertained for a little while longer so my parents could finish their meals. It was also the only time as kids we were allowed to play with our food.

in noodad » Are Adoptive Parents Better Than Biological Parents? on Noodad
As much as I would hate to admit it, I think that they might have a point, albiet a small one. As quoted in the article:
Adoptive parents face a culture where, to many other people, adoption is not real parenthood, Powell said. What theyre trying to do is compensate. ... They recognize the barriers they face, and it sets the stage for them to be better parents.
I dont blame them, how terrible would it be to feel like you have to compensate with your parenting, becuase so many people dont see you as \"real\" parents.
BUT...
also fron the article:
One of the reasons adoptive parents invest more is that they really want children, and they go to extraordinary means to have them.
Although that may be the case adoptive parents are not the only parents that really want children and have gone through extraordinary means to get them. I myself went through years of invasive and painful procedures before I got pregnant.
My son is my biological son, it took me years to get him, and I dont think that I am any less invested than an adoptive parent. But by reading so many stories in the news about horrible parents, biological or adoptive, I cant say that I totally agree with this study.

in noodad » Is it okay to breastfeed in public? on Noodad
It is definately ok to breastfeed in public. I mean really, this is the actual reason for having breasts in the first place! I have actually heard people describe it as \"discusting\", when it is most natural thing that any woman could possibly do.

in noodad » When Should Kids Get a Cell Phone? on Noodad
I definately agree, when I am shown that my son is responsible enough to understand that phones cost money, and that if need be, they will have to pay for it themselves. That said, I do really like the idea of the firefly for the smaller children out there, its got like 3 buttons one of them mom and one of them dad. This thing would be great in a \\\"i lot my kid in the mall\\\" type of situation.

Foodad,
I found an article that says that a 6 year old was kicked off an Air Cananda flight back in September for the same reason. But probably didnt hear about it because it wasnt US news.

I totally agree. I did see on one article where the mother had asked the flight attendant if the child could sit in her lap for take off. I also read in the same article that two different flight attendants came over to them, so I am sure they had plenty of time in between to try to calm the girl.
I am betting this isnt the first time a family with a small child had been kicked off a plain for the exact same reason.

in noodad » Is it OK to Spank Your Kid? on Noodad
I got spanked when I was a kid, never with a belt or anything like that, it never did hurt at all, and like you said it was the sting of getting spanked rather than the spanking itself. I wouldn\'t say spanking with a belt or other object is ok. But a good old fashion smack on the butt never hurt anyone. So im also going to say yes.

in noodad » Should You Circumcise Your Son? on Noodad
I know others have different views, and your kid, your decision, I\'m not one for telling people whats best for their kids, I just find it a silly argument that I am constantly defending my decision of why I didn\'t circumcise my some to everyone from my father to many of my friends with boys.
My husband and I didnt circumcise our son for a few reasons.
I did some research just like Dans wife and came to the same conclusion, that there is really no medical reason for circumcision, as reported by the American Pediatrics Association. The stuff about hygiene and such only happens to a very small number of boys. And as such should be taught how to clean themselves by their father.
My husband is not. Seemed silly to do it at that point.
We also have no religious reasons to do so.
And though this may seem a controversial statement to some, I believe it to be mutilation of the male genitalia for no good reason whatsoever. People say its a useless piece of skin, whats the big deal? Well the big deal to me is, if people were lining up their baby girls to have parts of their labia removed, there would be a giant uproar.

in noodad » Would you take away your son’s porn stash? on Noodad
I would have to agree with BmoreDad on this one. If I were to find a few playboys then thats just fine. But the hardcore videos, no way, but not only would I take it away there would be a descussion, no matter how imbarassing, on how the porn videos do not actaully portray real sex in a relationship.
As for internet, I dont beleive that parents have the ability to monitor the stuff kids see online as well as we would like to believe, they are going to see it anyway. but I beleive that the amount of hardcore porn available to kids these days on the internet actually skews the realities of sex for boys and girl alike. But of course that is also another descussion
