in Who should be USA’s CTO? on Scobleizer
I have to wonder how much a CTO could really accomplish in 4 years (maybe 8 if we are lucky). The gov't is full of legacy IT systems and a conservative culture. It would be an uphill battle without agency CTOs/CIOs on board with the policy changes. I am sure Lessig realizes this and I am curious how he thinks someone could cause change within such an environment.

Sounds amazing. Makes me wonder if any companies are investigating the feasibility of filming real images that could be fed through these 3D projectors. I'm not up on the latest filming technology but I hought they recently used multiple cameras to capture a 360 of action scenes for cool special effects. The Matrix in 3D would be pretty cool but I will settle for the animated movies next year. Thanks for posting on this!

MG Siegler That Matrix idea is an interesting thought. They didn't discus non-animated films today, but I assume it's harder than doing the animated variety. I know they are currently working on retrofitting Star Wars to be in 3D though. Other films are in the works too.

Although libraries still play an important role in society (like your mother explained), I feel that they need to be more proactive in adjusting to the population's needs of them. However, I know that it is difficult for them to react to constant change on a limited budget. There have been some really interesting discussions on this topic in the GovDoc world. As for the park, I think putting some money towards wi-fi in that park would be my personal preference!

Good post. I work with some digital preservation issues and I am always amazed at how little people discuss these topics. It seems that everyone is in this whirlwind of content creation and no one is think about content preservation. Even in the case of the files on our computers - we have no way of guaranteeing that they will be available to read (as in open) in 20 years. And you're right - what do we do about the stuff we don't even technically possess...?

I think that you are spot on except for not mentioning that the real world and online world divide will need to be closed before someone's personal influence factor is a true reflection of their actual influence. So much of how we influence people happens in person, in real life, not just online. That said, I see this divide closing as we move forward and at a similar enough pace that I don't think it will be an issue.
