By their own logic:

We should cancel management's pay because most people in the US earn less than $50K a year.

There is NO reason why they should use more than the median.

There should be NO private monopolies. We should use eminent domain. Seize all of them and convert them to co-ops.

It's OK to own a website. It's NOT OK to own the wires.

The same goes for the power company.

They're not neon (those are clear) they're fluorescent lights.

They have mercury vapor in them that can be absorbed though lungs and skin.

The US trade deficit is $60B a month.

$40B a month of that is the direct cost of oil.
It mostly goes to countries that hate us.
Indirect oil import costs are estimated at another $23B a month.

Want to fix the economy and disarm our enemies?

Keep that money in the US.

in Whopper Virgins: it doesn’t get much more offensive than this on The Inquisitr
In the councils of nutrition, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the fast food-fad diet complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced bodyfat exists and will persist.

Seriously, US girls should learn to eat like the Cheeky Girls (Romanian) not the other way around!

Vierotchka Uh... I have seen four, they were all different. We tend to impose an imaginary standard and shape on UFOs, but whoever built and pilot them don't give a rat's ass about the standards we would impose, you kow.

in New Light Source Lasts 15 Years Without a Recharge on Ecoble
It says "non-toxic" - Tritium is not toxic, it's a beta emitter version of Hydrogen. Beta particles are just accelerated electrons like old style CRTs & TVs. They won't even penetrate your skin, let alone the borosilicate glass Tritium is commonly packaged in.

It's banned from export, not import.

Radioluminescent tech got a bad rep because early versions used Radium which is a very strongly chemically reactive alpha & gamma emitter that decays into an Radon gas which is also an alpha emitter that you can inhale. Alpha particles can cause nuclear transmutation, which is very strong carcinogen.

What most people don't realize is that both coal and oil contain radioactive elements that are released in significant amounts when they are burned in volume. By contrast, beta radioluminescent tech produces less radiation and of a much safer type. Don't be scared by the word 'radiation' - even visible light is a type of radiation.

in So I needed to get a chest X-Ray in France... on AMERICAblog
If the water, power, gas, trash and sewer are all regulated utilities because you need them to live, then why isn't health care regulated the same way?

I was in a car accident with an uninsured illegal alien. He couldn't read the yield sign because it wasn't in spanish, so he coasted his 18 wheeler right though the intersection in front of me. He continued right though the intersection, over the median and totaled another woman's brand new SUV.

When I got out of the hospital, he was long gone and I found the hospital had padded by bill with all kinds of things they never did. My insurance company kept pretending they didn't get the paperwork and then when I sent it with a signature required, they wouldn't sign. By the time I got a lawyer, they claimed the time limit had passed and wouldn't pay.

The hospital got a lien on my house and wouldn't release it until I paid everything out of pocket.

Months later, I find out the hospital had been convicted over overbilling Medicare for hundreds of millions of dollars. Even though they were convicted and fined, the guy in charge did not go to prison and did not have to give his $20M bonus back.

The US system is disgustingly crooked.

Just look at what happened in Vegas where doctors were reusing $0.50 needles and other equipment!

Oh nooos!!!!

Free software and internet will kill the economy just like free programs on radio and TV killed the economy in the 50s and 60s!

Oh yeah, that's right, free radio and TV helped the US economy boom.

Traffic for non-trivial sites is already remapped by protocol/port anyway and has been for years. When you hit sun.com on port 80 you get one bank of servers and on port 21 you get another.

In short, prefixes are only needed if you have an idiot admin.

Printing and typing them are a waste of resources.

Speaking them is a waste of time.

"Amendment 4

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

In other words, they need an order issued by a judge. I don't care what some paper pushing closet fascist says - until the US Constitution is amended the cops who do this and anyone who supports them are breaking the law.

Also, practicing medicine without a medical licence is a felony in every state.

They denied it for years but in the end, China admitted to using political and religious prisoners for organs and then told us to mind our own business. The fat whores in the US Congress won't do anything about it because they know they may all need new livers in 10 years. But you should all remember:

When you dance with the Devil,
the Devil doesn't change,
you do.

I can't prove that I didn't pop into existance just this instant with all my memories pre-made either.

But I find the chances so remote as to be mathematically disharmonious.

There's something you should know about atheists. Most of us play along with religious people and their god myths the same way most of us play along with children and their love of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. Not because they're real but because you're not ready for the truth.

I'll skip the 20 year list of incredibly bad teachers I've had because ultimately they all have the same cause.

Teachers are not objectively evaluated and replaced as needed.

Improving any system requires honest evaluation and a willingness to adapt based on that information.

For decades, too many people in the US have put political ideology above honesty and performance. Both the Communists and the Fascists lie not only to the people but to themselves. Unless that changes soon, we will soon finish squandering the Great Hope that was America.

I would prefer living in Bill Gates' house.

Should I just move in?

Should I eat his food?

Should I use his credit card?

Will he be happy if I do?

How about if my bothers and friends do too?

The ants outside would really prefer to live in my kitchen. Should I let them in?

If illegals were really desirable, then other countries would be competeing for them.

in IQ Is Real, And It Matters on dmiessler.com | grep understanding
Corporate, military and political consultants have studied this up one side and down the other for decades at least. The optimal IQ for personal success is about 1 standard deviation over the group you are in. More than that and the group can't understand you and you can't relate to them and performance goes down.

They've shown that it's true in everything from office managers to field officers to the most popular presidents.

They've also shown that over the long run, the group with the higher average IQ almost always outperforms the group with the lower IQ.

There's also psycological issues like high IQ people tend to assume people who fail are lazy and should try harder and low IQ people tend to assume that people who succeed either cheated or just got lucky. This is not to say that there aren't both lazy people who fail and cheaters who succeed but rather that people's perceptions outstrip the actual percentages of each.
