in Twitter Corral …. the Conan edition on Shooting at Bubbles
Why would Conan's piece on twitter be insulting to members that have been on longer? That doesn't make any sense at all. Sure there are serious uses for twitter. It was a JOKE.

in Is anyone really surprised by this? on Shooting at Bubbles
I think there is another side of the coin. How can anyone possibly follow 40,000 people? I bet at some point and time people just start "following" whoever follows them even if they never read a single tweet from that person.
When you start getting up into the thousands of the numbers are more status than anything. Maybe even less than thousands...

Steve,
There is something up with the links in your article when I'm reading your blog in Google Reader. They work fine when I'm on your site, but from Google I get "The page cannont be found".
BTW, I like your new name. It really fits, oddly enough :)

Thanks for the heads up James. I know what has caused the problem and I have removed the offending plugin. Hopefully future posts will play nice

I caught this movie on the Retro channel and really enjoyed it. Partly, because it's so different from most movies these days that seem to fall into on of a few categories.

So how do you change that setting? I can't seem to find it...

It's not intuitive. Find a "Friend of..." item in your FriendFeed stream. Click "Hide." That'll bring up a popup that lets you select other options. That second popup will allow you to hide all "Friend of..." updates.

That's probably the only way they could make it take 7-10 days to get it to you. Otherwise, you'd be getting better service than you paid for and we can't have that ;)

The whole "Man With No Name" is an excellent series. I watch these movies over and over again. One part that you didn't mention was the sound track by Ennio Morricone which sets the mood and tone of each scene. Those movies wouldn't have been the same without him.

Really, this already happened with Windows 2000 and XP. Some companies skipped Windows 2000 Pro and Server and held out for XP/2003.

The only way Google could have it their way is to have bought the spectrum. What did they think? They could go in a change the way the FCC and these providers have done business since the beginning of their reign? Instead of blowing smoke they should've just bought the spectrum.
Anyone that thought we'd have this wonderful wide open network was really fooling themselves. These companies aren't billion dollar operations for nothing. Google comes out looking like an hero for trying to fight for the small guy and nothing changes with mobile carriers. In the end, the user gets screwed again.

Amen brother. Sure, you can install Linux and get rid of that one problem, but then you have to deal with a whole host of other problems. Just using that line would be like telling someone to trade their BMW in for a Pinto.

in A dangerous RSS trend on Shooting at Bubbles
I think I've picked up on a trend here. I noticed on their feeds that they don't show the advertisements on every item. Boing Boing has a HUGE one every third article while Valleywag has a smaller, but still pretty big ad every second one. Winextra has one small, or regular sized ad every page.
Kind of all relative. I think as long as the ad's are placed in the same position every time and don't interfere with the content I'm ok with them.
As far as an ad blocker is concerned, I wouldn't use one. It would have to be some really good content to keep me around if the site started littering itself with advertisements.

Like most of the other commentors, I like the all bull shit aside approach you have. Your blog keeps me informed of what's happening in the greater blogshepre, something I tried doing on my own but got burned out rather quickly reading about things that aren't exactly my favorite subjects.
I like you calling out the other A-list because it keeps me informed on what they're is up to in an entertaining way. However, the subjects of those posts can be a tad much at times. ;)
Keep it up!

Those comfort keys aren't all they're cracked up to be. I use one at home. At work I had to break down and buy the ergonomic keyboard that MS offers and I regret not having done so years ago. It is the most comfortable keyboard I've ever used. 8 - 10 hours of typing with zero pain. I'll be upgrading the home computer soon.
But man, options being the deciding factor, the keyboard in your post wins hands down

Cool to see my entry made it for review and stirred up some controversy to boot!
I watched this movie with my girlfriend and an 8 year old. The 8 year old liked it but I've seen much better "comic book" movies that he enjoyed also. The acting, directing, etc. was just bad in this one.
