I believe the term for this is "don't look a gift horse in the mouth".

in Cultural Dissonance: Why Hip-Hop Customer Service Is Crap on danielmiessler.com | grep understanding
Personally, all I care about is if they get my order right and give me the correct amount of change, and generally don't screw anything up. To me, that's what they're there for. I really could not care less about the person's "attitude", unless they are openly hostile. That's the sort of thing that people with nothing better to do complain about. When I go to Starbucks, I expect to get a cup of coffee, I don't expect to like the personality of the person behind the counter nor the positioning of their headwear.
Also, you're wrong about the person behind the counter not liking you. Really, he just doesn't give a shit about you at all. He forgot about you the moment you walked out the door. Believing otherwise is just being self-important.

in Windows Vista vs. Mac OSX, the two-hour definitive word on Scobleizer
Are you comparing Vista with Leopard? Because if you aren't, the comparison is only going to be valid for a few more months.

in OS X vs. Windows Security: Discovered vs. Undiscovered Vulnerabilities on danielmiessler.com | grep understanding
I have to admit I don't find this "debate" very interesting. Every time Mac users are prophesied to have an avalance of security issues, we don't. The discussion remains academic until that comes to pass, because, look at the bottom line. Right now, how many viruses and worms and other malware can my Windows box accumulate? Now, how many can my Mac?

in Smart person’s debate of OSX vs. Windows Vista on Scobleizer
My dream "OS X vs. Windows" debate is, let's not beat this dead horse anymore than it already has been, and let's go out and get beer and pizza instead.

It's weird that there are so many nerds there. I wouldn't go there precisely because it is a giant parking lot.

in Why is Vista better than XP? on Scobleizer
Vista won't work with my display adapter for whatever reason (supposedly the WDDM drivers for it are built into Vista, but they don't work), so Vista is actually a step back for me. I'll stick with XP whenever I have to use a PC.
But I think the greater question is a valid one to ask. Why IS Vista so much better? The Aero Glass stuff is cool, but that's not really an answer because it feels bolted on, and because it doesn't actually help anyone do anything better. Security is a possible answer, but so far has manifested itself as Windows asking you "Are you sure?" every single freaking time you want to do something. Stability, no, XP is already plenty stable. IE7 is shaping up to be cool, but I think that's going to be available for XP as well. There are other things that were probably envisioned as improvements like the Network Center or whatever it's called, but aren't truly compelling.
So, even as someone who keeps up with tech stuff a little bit and has even used Vista, I'm hard pressed for a sound byte or elevator pitch as to why Vista is that much better. I guess if someone asked, I would say "Security. Maybe."

in Congrats to Writely for using .NET to get acquired by Google on Scobleizer
It's cool that they used .NET to write it, but the post on the Writely blog says they will move to Google's software architecture, which probably means bye bye .NET.
