@Shannon I am pretty sure the 960 refers to the new site size (page width) not the player itself, that should only be 640

Anyone know the best settings for encoding video for the new player?

Howlee Crap! That is BIG. I saw the skit live and it was hilarious. Timely as well since I had just begun to think that the writers on SNL were being biased toward the left and merciless in their parody of Palin. I was just starting to think that maybe SNL was too heavy handed and had fallen into the trap of "Liberal Media" when they broke out that skit and skewered the lefties too. Yippee! I thought, REAL comedy which leaves no stone unturned and brooks no sacred cows has risen to its true purpose. Unfortunately, this news that the left (and the wealthy left at that) cannot allow itself to made fun of has pushed them into the right as far as I am concerned. The fact that NBC is in their pocket has shown them to be as false as the right would believe them to be. Welcome to the new world people. You watch what we want you to watch.

I avoid video news media both online and on television and would never consider going to youtube for a source of news information, I go there for fun. If I need something from a reputable source I will go to the BBC website to read my info. If the video is so important to see I will search for it and view it through multiple sources.

Meh. FB on the mobile web is pretty sweet. It gets er done with little or no trouble and retains much of the basic layout and feel of the big FB at home.

Yes, cloud-based services do have their advantages. Facebook didn't get big through a desktop application, after all.

in An External Hard Drive Designed for Travel on blog.jr.com
Yeah but duuuude, How Big is it? In Reality?
Neither the blog description or the actual place where you buy it (no link to that either - sheesh! -) list the dimensions of the drive.
I mean it looks small and you are certainly describing something small but HOW small is it? Like 2" x 1" small or more like a pack of cigarettes? Pack of cards? Big Cell phone? Matchbook? Whhaaaat?

Live since last summer I think...
So this would be like announcing a cool new computer that is really, really thin and ultra portable called the aBook (where a stands for "air") by some company named Pear.

in Dembot - Accurate Facebook Mini-Feed on Dembot
Too MUCH! Too Funny!
But wouldn't it be nice if my facebook account told advertisers that I was in the market for a factory refurbished iphone and not in the market for new tampons or a new car no matter how environmentally friendly?
Somewhere in the midde would work very well for me.

in Dembot - Why Mahalo is Fundamentally Flawed on Dembot
Must be a noob, but I thought the fundamental purpose of a people driven search results page esp for niche was to select only the most relevant results, tag the ones with advertising, and separate them from sites with a lower commercial interest..
Isn't that the idea behind Mahalo? "Here ya go, these sites have the info you want with commercials, and theses sites are commercial free."
Right?

in Why Bother Blogging Podcasting and Using Social Networks on Chris Brogan
I personally am thrilled to know Chris, even though we have only shaken hands twice. I look forward to his posts because of the connection it brings. And there is really the truth of the social aspect of the interwebs. NOW we have a richer experience of each other. So when we do finally shake hands I know much of your back story (the one you publish anyway).
I had to explain what I was doing in California to several people over the weekend and I kept coming back to that one simple idea: It's like e-mail ONLY BETTER. A Passive way to become enriched by another person's expression of their life (provided they post).
Thanks Chris, I think your official term should be referred to from now on as Chief Galvanizer.

UGH Concept. I need Function! HIGHLY portable. As powerful (more powerful please) than my desktop and with a battery that lasts about 1 week between recharges. AND I need it now. Is that too much to ask?!

Finally!
Comments from my favorite store and blog. Yes Speakers! Great Idea...but I think the whole point of travelling light is to minimize the stuff. So I will have to stick with my HP's lousy sound. Fortunately there are two jacks for headphones...
