in The Second Debate Sucked on dmiessler.com | grep understandingIn the end, the market will take care of itself, if only those who wish to redistribute wealth and "equalize" the market would stay out of its way.
Point further in case, the "gouging" statute and the current fuel shortage in North GA.

in The Second Debate Sucked on dmiessler.com | grep understandingwait, What? McCain is responsible for the current economic crisis? I thought it was the Dem. party that pushed the need for mortgages for everyone. No down payment? No problem. Down on your luck? No Problem.
The over regulation in the first place is what put us here. I also lay blame on the current administration and Congress for not addressing the issue 4 years ago and adjusting dangerous regulations, but to talk about sources we need to go TO the source. That source lies squarely within the left wing agenda to insure everyone gets a nice house, even when they can't afford it.
From Thoreaux's On The Duty of Civil Disobediance:
"Governments show thus how successfully men can be imposed upon, even impose on themselves, for their own advantage. It is excellent, we must all allow. Yet this government never of itself furthered any enterprise, but by the alacrity with which it got out of its way. It does not keep the country free. It does not settle the West. It does not educate. The character inherent in the American people has done all that has been accomplished; and it would have done somewhat more, if the government had not sometimes got in its way. For government is an expedient, by which men would fain succeed in letting one another alone; and, as has been said, when it is most expedient, the governed are most let alone by it. Trade and commerce, if they were not made of india-rubber, would never manage to bounce over obstacles which legislators are continually putting in their way; and if one were to judge these men wholly by the effects of their actions and not partly by their intentions, they would deserve to be classed and punished with those mischievious persons who put obstructions on the railroads."

in Thoughts on the First Debate on dmiessler.com | grep understandingI saw a different debate. It seemed to me Obama was reaching to speak over McCain, often speaking during McCain's time to correct or "clarify" his position. It left me with a feeling of desperation on Obama's part that he could not wait his turn to rebuke the other Senator.

in Revealing Biases Against Obama on dmiessler.com | grep understandingHumorously enough, when I told my boss I would not be voting Obama her reaction was "Because you are a racist."
Why is it so hard to understand I do not vote Obama because I don't like his energy policy (though improving), his 2A policies (Constitutional Scholar my Bum), or the fact he wishes to take from me (since I can afford it) and give it to those who "need" (not work) for it.
If I voted for Obama, it would be to simply elect a black man, and that in my opinion WOULD be racist.

in A New Take on McCain’s VP Pick on danielmiessler.com | grep understandingSo picking the guy who called you young and inexperienced and "not ready" for office is so much wiser?
It is a party pick. He may not have dated her or spent time getting to know her mother, but she does have a strong track record on conservative ideals, is from a region where we want to drill, and is not only a pro-lifer in politics but in life.
I think she is refreshing in that she not only does what she says and lives what she professes, but also is willing to take on stupidity and corruption head first.
Lastly, WTF does her 17 year old pregnant daughter have to do with anything?
Family != Political Leverage.

in Media: “No Plot Against Obama” on dmiessler.com | grep understandingOne glaring problem here. Was there a "Plot"? Yes. Was it Credible?
Not even close. You have 4 meth heads with one super powerful rifle which was sighted in allegedly to 750 yds. The problem? That super powerful rifle was a .22lr plinker.
These guys have had absorbed a few too many fumes.

in What Really Happened in Georgia on danielmiessler.com | grep understandingDoes anyone else remember the Second World War? The war of Alliances?
So, Georgia instigates Russia, Russia retaliates. Had both sides pushed to full conflict, can we guess which side America would have been on?
Hint: Georgia is the Second largest force in the "Coalition of the Willing". You do the math. Georgia didn't have to worry about how hard Russia "kicks". They knew America was behind them.
Thankfully diplomacy and common sense prevailed.
