in Colour Bias - II on Ramana's Musings
The caste system has merit in the aspect that many of means still work hard to honor their family, even though they do not need to work.In India everyone is of the same race and close in color, so it may be more natural that caste system is the foundation of bias.
Some think in America we have classism instead of racism. The US still has a long way to go regarding race and color but progress has been made. America is quickly becoming the land of the haves and the have nots, and the new category, the hads.

Rummuser That is a fantastic third category JD, the hads! What a world that we live in!

in Colour Bias. on Ramana's Musings
This blog post and comments represent some of the most compelling dialog I have witnessed. I am glad to have been a small part of it. Mitch was correct to explain color is something that in the states it is hard not to see. I being a very dark skinned black, have found the more we can disscuss with an open affinty for growth, controvesial topics, the more we may discover common ground. The growth that comes from learning about something new or different can give us less fear.
Rummuser, your life experiences and style of prose has cause many to have comfort in commenting. keep building bridges, and I will keep hope alive.

Rummuser Jim, I thank you for the link and your brand new post in your blog.

I have left a comment on your post and look forward to a lively discussion there. I do hope that Mitch will join in too.

I shall shortly be posting another write up on our losing our sense of humour for the sake of being politically correct.

in A Journey That Is Totally Personal. on Ramana's Musings
My first wife died when I was 33 years old. We had been a couple for 8 years and married for 5.She died and our son was still in diapers. You are right in the aspect when it all settles in you are alone. When the funeral ends and your families and friends return to their lives, you are alone, not wanting to burden anyone with your sadness, and perhaps in trying hard to show you are OK. I found comfort in the fact that so many people cared and the correspondence was of value to me.
Time eases pain and when you reach the point when you think of your loss, you do so with a smile and a pleasant memory, as opposed to feeling sorry for your self and loney for the loss. The healing had begun. Good Luck.

Sandy, good luck in your new alliance. The concept of strategic alliance can be a big win win if cost can be lowered via economies of scale and or revenue increased due to a stronger offering.

in Stevie Wonder celebrated at White House on BlackPoliticsontheWeb.com
I remember Little Stevie Wonder, I was made to love her, one great memory was seeing Stevie Wonder in Montreal when he open for the Rolling Stones in 1973 or then about. This was a mostly white crowd, and when Stevie finished, the crowd scream for an encore, Mick Jagger and the Stones had to wait for stevie to finish. A few years later in DC I saw Bob Marley join Stevie on stage for his encore of Master Blaster Jamming. Shortly after that Marley died.Stevie, Marvin Gaye, and Sonny Rollins are my favorite artist.

in Let it Be Jesse Jackson - Sr. — For Senator on BlackPoliticsontheWeb.com
Rep. Jackson Jr is one of the most experienced members of the House and his stature is inspiring and thought provoking. He is a great choice for Senator. Your sentiments for his father are noteworthy but he would be a second choice to his son.

Nigger is a word rooted in evil, the behavior of our people hopefully will step up in maturity and strive to be a part of Obama's America and say yes we can, or Jesse Jackson's, I am somebody. We have to expect more from ourselves.
You are right about the blog being uplifting and your being a community organizer, you deserve your honor of best business blog for keeping hope alive!

in The Homophobia Has to Stop on YBPGuide
I believe marirage should be between a man and a woman. Having said that, who are we to deny the joy marriage seems to bring members of the homosexual community. Love is Love and marriage is a risk to provide as much unhappiness as happiness. There are many legal reasons for ao couple should be able to marry. So even though, marrage should be between a man and a woman, I am getting closer to understand and being for gay marriage.

ybpguide Right. See, I think that is a reasonable point of view.

You can disagree with someone and not mandate a law preventing others who disagree with you.

I guess my question is, if it were legal in the U.S., what is the big consequence everyone is afraid of?

Douglas Karr Thanks JD!

It was a tough one, but you're right. In the back of my head I just kept telling myself that they were holding them for a reason. I wish they just held them in the terminal, though.

in Are you happy now?! … probably not on YBPGuide
I attended Saviours Day and Farrakhan did not endorce Obama he only praised him. I was dissapointed in NBC to spend 7 minutes of the debate speaking about this bs. Farakhan's speech was full of items worthy of debate, budget short fall, the money for the stimulus package, our failing infrastructure, etc, if the media and the government can keep us dumb to issues we may miss what matters

I enjoyed reading this, it reminds me of an part of a Spinners song, "Love don't Love nobady" You are a Queen and there are many Kings but loving yourself is a must in order to enjoy the richness of life. Love is around the corner and it will appear when you least expect or need it, but most of all when you are prepared to embrace it

prejuidical feelings are something that can be used without having a negative impact on one's race.Blacks cannot be racist because actions have little impact on the white race as a whole.
