I'm a long time UK Fan of Apple and erstwhile developer totally convinced about the quality and vision of apple products and service. It is extraordinary how stand out these occasions are when big capital appears to orchestrate the big downs for apple SP followed by big ups soon therafter with very little to calibrate either in terms of financial performance. I recall April 1986 very vividly and also earlier this year. It is extraordinary that regulatory authorities can't call these large shorters to explain/account for their actions. After all it's not their money they are playing with, it's that of uncle tom cobbley and all.

In the UK, GSK also falls prey to shorters without reference to actual financial performance and though not so dramatic in effect galling nevertheless. The emphasis on Innovation is a thing both companies hold in common and I wonder whether punishing the costs of bringing truly innovative product to market is one of the things that attracts the ***** whose only expertise is working the rise and fall of lines on a graph!

Re: Apple Investors Were Pinned Then Screwed

oops meant 2006 not 1986

Re: OMG Apple Investors! Now What?

Thanks for the insights Zach. They are sharp as ever and a guide for the perplexed me included!

Some further observations whilst Apple sp has corrected over 30% since its highs the Dow has corrected 23% and S&P 24%. To me that suggestes there is further to go as here in the UK the ftse has corrected 24% while our financials are down 83% to 60% and commodities 27% to 50%!
Crash helmet firmly on Vigilant and loose (in all respects!)

Re: Apple Investors Today was the AIG Show

Hey Zach is an analyst with insights that are keen and I greatly greatly value what he writes. But listen he isn't a prophet and he does not ask you to follow him and your interpretation of what he writes is your interprtation.
I regard his words more as one would regard those of a coach abloody good coach. I do what I think best and blame noone but myself. As for mising a fortune on Apple shares I would be a millionaire now but for missing a call by 5 minutes in April 2006. My fault I was overstretched and on route to India out of money and out of time!
Great work Zach,
