I am a firefighter and always grab tis tool with a flat head ax when I dismount the apparatus. Very good video too! Thanks for posting it.

Re: Emma Maersk - From Shipyard Fire to the World&nbsp;Records

What a great story! I cannot imagine having to fight that fire. It looks like the fire streams being used are not even reaching the fire! There was a problem similar to this (although not on a ship) near us when the Goodyear Airdock caught fire about 1 1/2 years ago.

Re: Top 10 Rescue at Sea Videos from the U.S. Coast&nbsp;Guard

Thank you for this story. I have heard of some of these events before (part of my duties include being on a water rescue team for our fire department) but had never heard of the Dorchester Rescue. That is a neat story and now I want to learn more about it. I am going to see if I can find more online or find anything about it in books. Thank you again. I am really glad I found your blog!

Re: Manned Models - An Unusual Training Device | gCaptain.com

I love both of those ships. I am not a mariner (I have a pleasure boat, but I am not a professional). This story and video makes me want to take this course. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't mind cruising the Ohio River in one of these model ships.

Re: ship graveyards - ghost ships at&nbsp;rest

This would be a neat place to go see. It is too bad that corrupt officials let people ruin the shoreline of their home, but I would love to see all of those old ships. One of the coolest things I remember doing as a child was seeing the "Mothball Fleet" of the US Navy when we visited Washington state to visit some relatives.

Re: Fighting Fires aboard LNG Tankers - Marine Firefighting Tips | gCaptain.com

This was a very good article. Hopefully I will never have to fight a LNG fire, but I now have a little knowledge about something that I never knew existed. Thank you.

Re: indestructible usb flash&nbsp;drive

I like the idea of this drive. I have a 2GB Lexar "Firefly" USB flash drive that has been through my washing machine and dryer twice. I have dropped it and stepped on it too. The case is cracked (it is only plastic) and I have to watch that I do not split the two halves of the case (because it is hard to put back together), but the thing still works after being abused for two years now. I carry the thing with me EVERYWHERE (including into house fires while at work).

Re: Nautical Misnomers that drive me crazy | gCaptain.com

I like the over and out comment, and the incessant hailing! I hate to hear somebody called on the radio 700 times while they are not listening. I hear it on my marine radio, and my fire department radio too. All it does is get in the way of what really needs to be said.<br><br>Great Job GCaptain! Is there any word on the price of the OLED display? I had heard that a nanotube display was on the way that should drive the cost of HDTV sets way down. This OLED display sounds like something I would be interested in.

Re: Female Impersonater Buys Fire Truck, Runs Calls

What a goof! Had they not replaced those engines, I would bet the department would never buy a thing of theirs again. By giving away two engines, E-One made sure they will continue sales to the department in question AND neighboring departments.

Re: New Meal-Break Controversy in UK

I can't believe this. There are weeks that go by where I have to eat cold food because we get calls in the middle of my meal. I want uninterrupted meal breaks too, but not in exchange for somebody's life. There are times where I have voluntarily given up my meal break because I knew that we were closer than another unit who was dispatched to the call. If things are as the story suggests, there are some people that need dealt with.

Re: Ban On &#039;Silly String&#039; During Fire Dept. Parades Being Proposed

Pretty soon nobody will go to parades. They won't let the spectators shoot silly string and they won't let the participants throw candy. The next law may be worded "No person during any parade, procession, or event, may at any time appear to have fun, a good time, or anything resembling any of the above."<br><br>OK, maybe that was an exaggeration, but our firetrucks have been hit with silly string and the paint didn't fall off. If their trucks were damaged, I can see why they would like it banned. But I think a few Public Service Announcements could do the same thing without more government regulation. Nobody would shoot silly string at the trucks if they knew it damaged them.

Re: Innovations In Fire Extinguisher Design

It looks odd. I read the extra material included in the linked site. I would love to have a chance to try one of these out. What a load of manure! I have been reading their blog for about a year now and I wondered how long it would take to upset the administration. These firefighters are right to be upset with some of the decisions that have been made by the administration. This will not make things any better!

Re: She Didn&#039;t See It Coming?

I always say that when something happens to a psychic. There was a psychic in town that had her parlor raided by the cops and there was evidence left all around for their investigation.
