koichi Oof, that would be scary. That pool froze over a couple days later, probably thick enough to walk on, even, though I wouldn't want to try it :)

These online courses at eduFire are so cool! Amazing technology that allows us to do this online! Thanks, Jon et al.

I'm indebted to Jon and to Koichi and all the eduFire tutors who are doing this first round of courses in fall 2008.

If you're a reader out there somewhere who's seeing this, I want to say one thing: Sign up at eduFire to be a student or tutor! You will not believe what an amazingly helpful, warm, smart community of people hang out on eduFire.

"Lectures could historically only be heard at the time and place of the lecture. Now we can watch a video recording of a lecture over the web. A tutor had to be in the same place to look at the work of a student and provide feedback. . . ." Now I can help clients and students from my home office without driving many miles every week.

Talk about reducing the carbon footprint! Yes, Web services and the social Web are transforming not only education but also the environment.

All very exciting, as is the wonderful eduFire community.
