Fun to hear.

I like that your blog captures images, conversations, and sounds. It's not only intellectual insights (which of course you can do very well).

Great point of view shaping up here.

Jesse,

Thanks for the great article.

Relationships in Facebook and other social networks are a bit odd. We're in a transitional phase where technology is allowing us to do some new things with relationships but it hasn't become sophisticated enough to give us a good way to manage those relationships.

We need easy ways to pick what matters and filter out what doesn't. It's like we're in the catepillar stage waiting to metamorphisize into something that will be more useful and will forge stronger ties.

Lawrence,

These are good notes on what I talked about. SNAP Summit 2.0 was an interesting event and I was glad to be part of it.

By the way, the article on Mass Interpersonal Persuasion is ready now. You and your readers can find it here:

Andrew,

You make a great point in your post. Our students were in an interesting situation where some were making more money than their parents because of a class project. Some were entertaining job offers and acquisition offers before the class ended.

It is an interesting time to be a part of the consumer internet. If you'd like to know more about the findings from our class, here are some slides from a recent presentation at the Graphing Social Patterns conference.

I'm teaching the Facebook course along with Dave McClure. Thanks for covering it.

A few clarifications for your story:

1. Your statement about grading isn't quite right. Students will be evaluated on how well their apps engage users, not on the sheer number of users. We're also evaluating students on how well they work in teams, among other things.

2. At the end of the course, we're having a public expo. This expo is not designed to win investors, as you say. I imagine some VCs will come, but this is not the purpose. We want to give students experience in presenting and discussing their work with the public.

I'm happy to answer other questions you have about this course.

As a DEMO presenter, I expected our video to be posted on the web immediately. It took about a week, which seemed like a year.

I've watched our video once. And I've watched a handful of others. What surprises me is how the videos fail to capture the experience of being there.

The YackPack video ends about 15 seconds too soon.
Not sure why. It misses our wrap up message. In any event, I'm just glad to have the video posted, if nothing else so my parents can see it. No one else has mentioned it before (As you imply, nobody really knows these videos are posted.)

The best presentation of the show, in my view, was Video Egg. The presenter had superb stage presence.
