So many of your comments resonate Liz; your suggestion to "Be an equal opportunity provider" has been my brain's meditation today. It's an energizing, timely reminder of how giving and receiving are the same side of the 'good business coin'.

Thanks Jill. Good fortune begets fortune. Give and you shall receive. At its core, community is about exchange, right? That is what adds value, and moves us all forward.

in About Women Grow Business on Women Grow Business
Hi Ben,
I appreciate you mentioning how you learned of the blog on LinkedIn. This was my first time to pose a question on that network; and the response has been incredibly positive and forthcoming. It's been a motivating week for sure.
As for making contact, there are a few online social networks where I participate steadily: first, certainly the comment section here at WomenGrowBusiness, Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=68374258..., or via Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/jillfoster.
Thanks for visiting the blog and taking time to reach out.
Best,
Jill F.

It's been an exciting time launching the blog and learning more on what ideas women want to discuss in this economy, in running their own business, and certainly more. So your remark on potential means a lot. I look forward to talking more through the year with you! @Naomi

in Word of Mouth Marketing - a must read on Helping Small Business help themselves - Network Solutions
Thx for the timely post and WOM reminder. I really liked your four tips on monitoring one's brand because they're basic and accessible steps. I'm a very small shop and sometimes cultivating a brand and marketing in general overwhelm. But your steps provide a great place to focus. I especially like "thank people for talking about your product." That's a neighborly attitude (...from Oklahoma originally so neighborly stuff stands out).
Thx for the great posts!

in 2008/06/12/social-media-delusions-of-grandeur/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
After first reading this, I was all on the defensive ready to come running out as the "social media cheerleader we-can-save-it-all!".
Yet after reading comments here, the perspective of Steven's post took a different, less defensive turn in my mind.
I agree social media is not the cure all in and of itself. It is however another way to reach & convene people. And in my experience, many folks I've met via online networks have been action-driven: canvasing for their presidential candidate; raising funds for causes; and educating themselves more on how to better help their clients (and families). Thx for provoking thought on this.

You are more than welcome Jill and I am glad that this has provoke thoughts and conversation about the whole thing. That is always my intent as we can'tove forward and really achieve anything with midless beating of the drums. We can though when we articulate the reasons, the why's and the wherefor's.

in A Sad State of Affairs on East Coast Blogging
Thanks for this.
And it brings this question to mind (...one that's a bit large and general but it won't abate): What stirs people - crowds of people I assume in this case - to misdirect their anger so publicly?
Is it the influence of crowds on the individual? Have these groups of people lost loved ones in Iraq? I'm not trying to force a devil's advocacy here at all. I'm just mentally grasping at straws on how such anger can be slung at the innocent so willingly.
Do they want to feel like they are asserting their power as citizens...despite their assertions being misguided and ignorant?
So my one question turned into a slate of rhetorical ones. I'm not looking for one particular answer at all. It just feels disappointing and desperate for service men and women to suffer in this way. It's frustrating to try and process.

Hi Robert - Thanks for posting on this; I'm still (slowly but with passion!) producing that documentary and video series for Living with Geeks (...interviewed a couple last week who mock-dueled eachother with their Star Wars' lite sabers. In between editing/posting footage - I've linked to some of your stuff to at least keep conversational. So thanks for posting the volume that you do!
