Caused a significant price drop. That is when I should have mortgaged the house and bought as much as possible.

Re: Bad PR for Dell but not for Apple?

"The Zune team has used their bloggers"

Imagine that, Microsoft using Microsoft funded bloggers. Who'd have thunk it?

It's a good thing a Microsoft funded poster told us about it and mentioned that he was so impressed that he bought a Zune and loves it. I thought a free Zune was part of his Microsoft compensation. Maybe he has 2 of them now. He is probably the only owner outside of Redmond that has successfully squirted a tune from one Zune to another. Who knew you had to move to Redmond or buy 2 Zunes in order to use that feature?

Re: iPhone update rumors cause conversations…

The iPhone will be updated periodically. That is why it is tied to iTunes and a PC or Mac. Except for GPS and 3G, every other wanted feature is just a software update away.

Re: Caught in Apple restart hell

Just bought a new MacBook Pro. Did nothing to it but ran software update and installed the accumulated updates. It rebooted without a problem.

Obviously you have installed some software that has violated Apple's software guidelines and screwed up something, somewhere.

Not Apple's fault, I'm afraid. It's your fault, or more correctly the fault of the scabby, offending software that you installed.

And you wonder why Apple want's to keep the iPod and iPhone as closed systems.

Re: Why are some bloggers turning on Apple?

It stands to reason that if Apple has 2 to 3 times the market share in the USA, it must also have 2 to 3 times the problems. Add iPhones and iPods to the mix and the complaints could be 5 to 6 times what they used to be with no lowering whatsoever of quality control. No surprise there.

As for waiting in line for a long time on the weekend before Christmas. Duh! Just been there, just done that.

Re: Northern iPhone woes: Canada is just too cold for iPhone?

Dennis,

I use a MacBook Pro, an iPod Touch and a crappy Motorola cell phone. All 3 have the same operating temperature range. I use them in remote locations in the Canadian oil patch. I see - 40° temps almost every year.

You just keep the electronics close close to your body and use a wired headset that can withstand the cold. You keep the laptop warm and in sleep mode and expose it for very brief periods in a sheltered spot or in the truck. Never been without communications or lost a LCD display due to freezing.

Suck it up man, we're Canadians.

Re: iPhone vs Palm Pre: Why Apple Shouldn’t Worry

Wow! So Chingon is "dropping his trashy and expensive AT&T service and jump ship to Sprint/Nextel to get the Palm Prē." His "iPhone could have been better".

Does he know that when he signed his 2 year contract he promised to pay for the full 2 years?

Does he know that when he bought his iPhone it was the best smartphone that existed at that time? He couldn't have bought a better smartphone. One wonders if he ever owned an iPhone.

How could anyone know what the Pre is all about when no one other than the odd Palm employee has ever held one let alone used one to make a phone call, surf the net or send an e-mail? When will someone get a production model to review the Palm Pre and tell us all about it's capabilities? It could be a total dog for all anyone knows.
