in WARNING: AMC theaters are running FAKE IMAX's and charging $5 extra for a slightly bigger screen. Boycott IMAX, AMC, and Regal. Don't let them fool you. on azizisbored
I think your anger, while righteous, is pointed in the wrong direction. You should really be pissed at the movie studio, who knowingly filmed the movie not using IMAX cameras or equipment, finished up their film and said "Hey IMAX and AMC, we're releasing this film that's basically a guaranteed moneymaker and we'd love to slap the IMAX logo on it so you can charge more and report higher profits and we all make giant oil tankers full of money. Is that cool with you?" Sure, they said yes, but the studio is the one who all along knew they had something that wasn't IMAX and decided to try and fool people that it was anyway. I think they're the dickheads who deserve the majority of our hate if anyone does.

LOL-Imax never says the screen is x by x. Yes, some IMAX screens are larger and some are smaller, but it is the technology that they licensed. IMAX long made an announcement that they'd be expanding into more regular chains, to bring the technology to more theaters. The technology in picture and sound is superior right now, regardless. I agree with other posters-you should have turned right around and asked for your money back..not AFTER the movie. Sorry, can't agree with this tirade.

Studios have little to no such communication with theatres. Studios sell their films to Distributors, who them put them into theatres. Films planned as IMAX or with scenes in IMAX (as in 70mm, different sound) are as far as studio planning goes.
In fact a studio might shoot a film for theatrical release but the distributor who buys it for a given territory (e.g. USA) might decide to release it straight to DVD instead.

But the screen size without the filming in IMAX I can deal with. Tiny
screen is unacceptable.

in What is a wine snob? on Another Wine Blog
I was just reading "Everyday Drinking" by Kingsley Amis and he has a quote from someone else I thought was apropos:
"Wine snob--a man or woman who drinks the label and the price" - Olof Wijk

Hey DP, how's it going? Great quote, and a great reminder to me that I have not read that book, and really need to. Thanks!

You're a little late to the party Joe, I think I did a post on it back in the beginning of June. The "Drink " part of the site is a little sparse, but they've got Gary Vaynerchuk who I like. You can find me here: http://www.eatdrinkordie.com/drinkplanner

in Sierra Nevada Summer Pilsner on Another Wine Blog
I haven't tried this one, but I like Sierra Nevada's other brews, so I'll have to check it out. Last summer I had a few from Leinenkugel that I'm pretty sure I remember liking, the Sunset Wheat (which they carry year-round) and the Summer Shandy (seasonal) which is very much like a hefe except they apparently mix it with actual lemonade. It's a great crisp citrus beer for the summertime. I think I bought a single of each on a whim and enjoyed both.
