in concrete5 Sets Sights on Drupal and Joomla with Powerful New CMS on CMS Critic
Ahhh, a custom page list mechanism. Interesting.

http://www.concrete5.org/index.php?cID=6289

Not quite as integrated as I may have liked it - resembles the ExpressionEngine method of blog creation. Cool stuff.

Fair points, all of them. Do you have a link on your site that describes the best way to implement the chronological capabilities of C5?

I haven't really looked into the MVC infrastructure of C5 yet, so I can't really comment, but - once blog, and dynamic modules are created, C5 will be the next killer app.

I would be reticent to compare C5 to something like Symfony, Zend or Cake. C5 is a contextual site manager, not just a content management system. I recognize the potential, no question, and am excited about what the future holds.

I don't dispute that as a CMS, C5 is more powerful, however, that doesn't mean the claim that C5, in general, is more powerful than Wordpress is not disingenuous.

If Jeep was to claim that their new Grand Cherokee was "more powerful" or "better" than an Corvette, the absurdity of that claim might reach the level of criminality. Screaming "some people need four wheel drive", or "it's better at offroad" do little to bridge the gap of comparison that you have created. Wordpress is a blogging platform that is sometimes used as a content management system for simple sites...they never claim to be anything other than that.

Personally, I think you are doing a poor job of differentiating yourself in your marketing. You AREN'T comparable to Drupal, Joomla or Wordpress. Celebrate the differences, rather than try to play tit for tat. You guys are awesome, and have a fantastic product. Let the quality of your work speak for itself!

On another note: how did you implement the more dynamic aspects of the schoolpulse website? Last time I used C5, there were no blogging features, or support for the linear presentation of chronological data. Is that something new?

Does anyone actually hold these companies to their claims? Or can they just release press "mandates" with impunity?

C5 is a competent system, no doubt...but more powerful than Wordpress? How can you even say that when it doesn't even replicate the core functionality of the WP (a blog)?

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of C5, and in truth - have used it for a number of client sites. However, I do get irritated when outrageous claims are made.

It is important to note that it was developed according to ITIL best practices. This is one of its biggest selling points.

in Video: Jeremiah Wright speech at NAACP on Infidels Are Cool
@1 (Pied Piper)

The thing that I find so repulsive about your comments, which are shared by many in the black community, is that somehow the concepts pushed forth within black churches is some kind of illusory or abstract concept that no one else has a right to understand or admonish. The latter will only get you accusations of racism.

This is no different than the "freedom fighters" that shoot their guns from the mosques, and when you return fire they scream bloody murder. Cowards such as yourself hide behind the veil of alternative faith and assume that any opposition is just a "lack of perspective".

And then you have the audacity to use the word objective while referencing Wright? Wright is far from objective. Many of his claims and beliefs are so contrived that they could be labeled a "tall tale"...even then that would give it too much credence, because at least the tall tales were used for entertainment. Wright certainly is entertaining, in a caricature sort of way.

You aren't that specific about how you transfer the messages and "mail" tasks to Things if you use Gmail. If you use mail, I know you can drag the message into a context or project, but how do you integrate gmail into the fold with Things?

The downtime itself does not give me pause...however, the cause of it does.

How in the world does Google allow a couple of users to take down their whole system. Do they not have countermeasures that can be implemented to prevent a single user from utilizing the system to that degree. That seems fundamental in a shared system.

in Rechargeable PSP Battery Leaves Much To Be Desired on OhGizmo!
What a terrible piece of journalism.

Not only do you lambast a product merely on conjecture (certainly bad form), it seems like you don't know much about the technology or its implications.

I am not saying that the product is perfect, or even worthwhile, but I would save those opinions and conclusions for a real review.

You do understand that a solar panel doesn't actually need to be pointed directly at the sun right? Although that is the point at which it is operating at maximum efficiency, it does not have to have direct line of site to function.

Do you really think that the charging would be at the same rate as you playing? You would have to let it charge when you weren't playing anyways...it is a method to charge the battery, not one to provide direct power when playing.

How often are you playing your game system? Why can't you just let it sit out when you AREN'T playing it? It seems that is the true goal of the system...

Either way, you need to find some journalistic integrity...especially your comments regarding the product "looking bulky".

From this article, one might conclude you are an assuming, pretentious asshole...but one shouldn't make that determination until they have met you in person? Capisce?

in Parallels and Leopard: A Must Have for the Business Mac User on The Marketing Technology Blog
It is extremely agitating not to be able to utilize both the bootcamp form of Windows alongside the VMWare form because of the activation restrictions. (It sees the "hardware changes" and deactivates you when you switch to the other form).

I am no Windows hater by any means, but this is plain out frustrating when I purchased a legitimate copy of Vista Business.

A post about virtualization and the mac, and you only mention one of the major players? Where is the love for VMWARE (which I think is superior...just seems more "polished").

Douglas Karr Hi E.T.,

I'm afraid I'm a newb when it comes to VMWare and don't have it up. I suppose it's because everything I needed is working great with Parallels. As I wrote Dale above, VMWare will be a major part of our production deployment soon, though. We'll be able to replicate environments and bring up different 'flavors' of our application next year.

Andrew Is that so? You on Yahoo Pipes? I'll share it with you. This is the second Republican-friendly post in as many weeks. And ignorantly so. I'll stick with Mashable for tech news. If I want to hear about "Pretty Boys," I'll go to Fox News.

Regardless of your political affiliations, its nice to get the other side of things for once. There are so many democratic blowhards, whether I agree with you or not is immaterial, thank God there is another opinion.
