Secondly sorry to hear about your issues hopefully they are through with.

However I have a slightly more refined suggestion to keep your wits about you today. Lots of protein, no sugar and frequent small cups of coffee. If you start drinking red bull you'll end up crashing really hard when the sugar buzz wears off. While nothing will replace the sleep you missed out on, a caffeine nap might do the trick at lunch. Strong cup of coffee and a 20 minute nap, no more than that or you'll end up in REM sleep and you're not coming back from that. You should wake refreshed. I wrote an article yesterday as a guide for students trying to stay up and be productive at the same time, the same thing goes for trying to function on reduced sleep.

BTW make sure to take your vitamins you are much more likely to get ill on less sleep. Good luck today

Re: The Miss Rockaway Armada

Thats pretty sweet there. Makes me think of the old Disney movie. Davy Crockette & the River boat pirates. Now i'm going to have to find that flick again.

Re: Psychedelic Barack Obollywood

That was awesome. As a descriptor of a solution to me it means thinking outside of convention, beyond the limits of the expected.

As a descriptor of a person to me it means that that person is consistently thinking in new directions unfettered by conventional wisdom, and is successful in doing so.

It doesn't matter if they have the wildest ideas if they don't work then the ideas aren't very useful notions.

And lastly as a descriptor of a process then anything goes, sometimes the most creative solution, and process is to follow the rules, conform a bit. If everyone thinks outside the box then the box really wasn't that good of a box now was it. Being creative could also mean building a better box.

good notion alex

Re: Writing Effective Blog Posts

Great post Chris.

I attended a seminar on writing specifically for the web and everything you say is dead on by their accounts, I could have saved myself some coin if i just waited to read your thoughts on this.

The best improvement i made in my style is frankly one of the first ones you talked about put the important stuff up front. Great post.

Re: Lunar Eclipse Photos 2008

Hi Chris, nice photo's. Products that appeal, or are supposed to appeal to adults, ie health food, even targeted magazines in the mag rack are placed higher. While products aimed at children are placed lower, and usually the lower the product the younger the age the store is aiming for.

Date sensitive products are always pulled down and the newer stocked behind it to sell off the older merch first.

Re: Local TV Transforms – Towers and Transmitters Meet the Social Web

its nice to see that the larger media companies are beginning to rebrand and re-imagine how they can use the online community to sell the traditional media elements of their empire. At the same point in time As someone who creates media strickly for online consumption i feel as if the landscape of online media is now more conveluted and its harder for independant content creators to get their voice heard above the din of the marketing.

Local media has the resources and the potential to make web 2.0 and social media really work in a true niche market economy, bounded by geography. Its nice to see local papers getting local again. You can read about iraq anywhere but when things go down in your neighborhood there is a truly limited audience.

Still a great article though.
