The company has 20% growth over the next year and trades at 27 times earnings, but if I am an institutional investor willing to pay twice the growth in terms of PE, that puts the PE at 40, multiply that by the current EPS and you have a stock price of $28.80 giving you your sell target.

Re: Is Facebook Advertising Effective?

I've been experimenting with Facebook's ad system but I'm not that pleased so far. 286k impressions resulting in 206 clicks and only one sale. That's just horrible. Definitely not overnight, but they work eventually.

The only thing I disagree with is to write what readers want to read...that sort of goes against the whole nature of blogging. One of my blogs is about the stock market and other than doing well researched articles, sometimes you just need to get some news out which means impulse posting.

On my other blog, it's all impulse posting because I post about day to day events or occurrences or I am running contests to give stuff away. Either way, I don't think impulse blogging is necessarily a bad thing. I think a blog is whatever you make of it and readers stay with your blog because they enjoy your point of view or what you have to offer.

Re: Adsense Attack!

classic use of comedy to get traffic.

Re: Make More Money With Your Theme

Don't forget that John already mentioned previously he wasn't making much money from Adsense ads anymore and that's why he decided to put that space up for sale, which has turned out extremely well for him.

Affiliate sales have always had a potential for better income because they don't solely rely on people clicking random ads and you can target your readers rather than hope the content you create has the right ads served up.

I think the new format is great, sure it's different but hey, it's working for John and that's what matters.

Aren't we all always trying to get a leg up on the competition and bring those greenbacks home?

Re: Boycotting For Dummies

boycott boycotted boycotts...come to my site instead :)

truly funny. Sometimes it helps strengthen the original idea and sometimes it means leaving ideas on the cutting room floor as it were. George Lucas once said the hardest thing about being a filmmaker is having to decide to cut out your favorite scene. Blogging can be like this. My blog has been up since May and is still a PR0 and my other blog has been up for over a year and is only a PR3. My web design company has been online since 2001 and is only a PR3...length of time is only part of how Google ranks PR so let's just drop that argument.

As for $100 being expensive...that's a relative point of view. If you don't make enough for $100 to be considered an investment then you shouldn't be doing anything on the internet. I bet loads of people spend $100 a month on lattes at Starbucks. So it's all perspective. If you don't think it's a good investment, then don't buy it. It doesn't give you the right to slander and libel. In fact, if I were JC I would be discussing things with a lawyer because you haters are potentially damaging his business by spreading rumors and lies.

Personally, it was a great investment. It paid off for me after the 50th page sold...$90 for an iPod Touch. I think JC got the short end of the stick there. In fact, my old ipod is sitting here on top of my gaming system collecting dust because I haven't decided whether I should give it away to an RSS subscriber or just give it to my wife for the car.

In case you were wondering, JC had to paypal me cash because the Apple store was screwing with his credit or something...he wired me the cash for the iPod in a couple hours of email correspondence. This guy keeps his word folks, he's the real deal.

It truly angers me that bloggers would promise a big prize and not deliver, there's no excuse for that. That being said, I am giving away a book right and you can win if you are an RSS subscriber...I have yet to receive any entries for the contest.

Re: A Billion BlogRush Credits!

I removed blogrush from my blog because the widget is ugly and the traffic results were negligible at best. Blogging isn't just about business, in fact it has only been recently that people seem to be jumping on the "make money online" bandwagon and trying to make money from their blog. Blogging is and should be whatever you want it to be. Anyone wanting to start a blog should be writing not only what they know about, but what they are passionate about. This is how you get readers and eventually make money if you want.

* Is not one of the attractions of blogging –> getting inside the mind of the blogger?
- Yes, people identify with certain bloggers or writing styles because there's something about that person that strikes the right chords with you. Almost every blog I read didn't start out as a money making blog but only became so because the author started experimenting with monetization and found something that worked. I love seeing how others live and what kinds of choices they make because of their lifestyle.

* What do you look for in a blog and what brings you back… what gets you hooked?
- Honesty and topics that are similar to my own interests. are what keep me coming back to a blog. I don't whether it makes money or not or is a business or not. Some blogs I read just because they are entertaining and good writing always brings me back.

Re: Bye Bye Bill Gates!

wow...huge MS bash post here.

Not really something I expected but I do have some comments. There's a lot of MS hating going on here. I have office 2k7 on both my home machine and my work laptop and have no problems with either. Also, backward compatibility means that if you have a newer version of an application, you can still open older versions, not the other way around. That would be "forward compatibility" which doesn't exist.

If you have a user/friend/co-worker that has office 2k3 and you save a file from 2k7 that has extra features of course they aren't going to be able to read it...that goes for any software, not just Microsoft Software...be fair.

As for the mac. Explain to me why iTunes stops working on my wife's imac nearly every day for no reason? About twice a day she has to shut down the drive her files are on and restart iTunes. I've never had anything like that happen on my PC and I use iTunes all the time.

My game system is a PC and I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate. Haven't had any driver problems, rarely does the computer crash, and it starts up in about 30 seconds compared to a good 15 minutes on my laptop and at least 10 minutes for my other work computer.

So, what all that says to me is, it really depends on the computer you are running all this on and how much memory/hdd space/video card you are using. There's no perfect system on the planet and never will be. We just use the best software and hardware for the job that we can afford. Heck, I'd love it if I could do my job with only the drum kit from Rock Band but it ain't gonna happen.

James Wilcoxs last blog post..Cheaters Never Really Win

Re: Bye Bye Bill Gates!

I did splurge on that machine. I much prefer Outlook 2007 over the previous version. One more thing, you can't have office 2003 and 2007 installed on the same machine or you will get all kinds of errors and crashes, but you shouldn't have both anyway.

James Wilcoxs last blog post..Cheaters Never Really Win

Re: Get Off The Make Money Online BandWagon & Make a Fortune!

Nice post.
