You forgot your wider focus lense. DEFENSE spending needs to be drastically curtailed. We spend more than ALL other countries COMBINED. This is unacceptable, loony, ridiculous, ruinous, and unsustainable. We could cut our "defense" spending (offense spending is more accurate) by 50% and STILL be spending more than Russia or China.

Cut military first, re-do the tax system so that it is more progressive than the current regressive system, THEN see where we are with regards to everything else.

What's with comments here? I post a comment, it may take forever to show up so I end up writing again. After some LONG period has passed, I find that both comments posted.

Guns are insignificant as a source of death in this country. THAT is the point. You are simply focusing on the lowest and (seemingly) easiest target to try to sooth your stomach upset.

Focus elsewhere. Ban cars and you would save FAR more lives.

Ban cigarettes outright and save far more.

Ban electrical appliances in the bathroom (where they drop into bathtubs) and you would save more lives.

While her total lack of showing any signs of pregnancy and the supposed story of her water breaking and STILL doing a speech and then taking a looong flight home afterwards is suspicious beyond words, a Down's Syndrome baby IS par for the course for older women having children. In any case, her daughter is a poster child for the effectiveness of abstinence only. Does she even know (the daughter) what a condom is? Or the pill? Or a diaphram?

So I read too, HOWEVER, Alaska is swimming in funds. So much that they give money to every resident rather than collect taxes...yet they beg for federal dollars on a level much higher, per capita, than any other state. So, how about using the EXCESS funds to build bridges and whatnot rather than seeking out MY tax dollars to do it? How about spending that excess money first, THEN seeking federal aid when absolutely required? QUIT STEALING FROM THE REST OF US!

I want Palin to explain how her state can cut checks for residents every year because of surplus oil funds but still goes above and beyond in seeking federal dollars?

Sad when writing this simple stuff (the facts) brings on thank yous for courage. That said, I thank you for supplying on-the-spot information from someone who knows Palin on a (more or less) personal level. You stood up for one of her enemies (a librarian with the "gall" to stand up for liberty and freedom to read and against censorship) and that makes you solid. Now, if only journalists would be as thorough in checking into her background as you are.
