I think the core team at Twitter takes pride in the fact that their application is lightweight and simple. I don't see them adding a lot of functionality - they'll leave that up to 3rd party developers.

The other day I saw a book at Barnes and Noble titled "Facebook for Dummies". A year ago this book couldn't exist because Facebook was just too simple. But now that Facebook has ambitions to be the OS for the Internet that has changed.

The day you see a "Twitter for Dummies" book at your local book store, Twitter will have jumped the shark and lost it's appeal. In essence, Twitter will cease being Twitter.

Re: eBay, CJ, and St. Patrick’s Day

Jangro - not sure if this is a Google Reader thing or what.. but just wanted to let you know Sam tweeted this post 2 hours before it showed up in Reader for me. I've noticed that happens on my blog too. Not sure if there is a ping setting that can be adjusted, or if specific to Google Reader. Right now IE 7 doesn't even compare to FireFox and Opera.

For those who are interested, I found an awesome mobile browser comparison:
http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/operaStuff/devices/

Opera Mobile and Opera Mini seem to be the best at rendering a variety of pages. Pocket IE was the worst... it ignores mobile spreadsheets and attempts to render pages like a desktop.

Re: links for 2006-09-28

I couldn't agree more. I agree with your points about the image problem. When people think about Toyota one word comes to mind - "reliable". What words come to mind when you think about Ford or GM? I have a few - SUV, gas guzzler, recall, etc.

I'm vehemently opposed to a bail out for the auto industry. We can't continue to throw taxpayers hard earned money at companies that aren't viable. There's no way in hell these guys can turn it around. Let the markets decide whether or not these companies should survive - not the government.

Best,

Jeremy

P.S. You praised the Beetle in your post. IMO the VW Beetle is a pile of junk. I owned one back in '99. I've never had more problems with a car. It may have been designed in LA, but it was assembled in Mexico. I'm not sure that the production quality in Mexico can rival the US or China.

Re: Antitrust Suit Filed Against Google

If they hate Google so much why are they still running AdSense on their site? http://www.sourcetool.com/results_solr.php?&amp...

I can see Google's point of view - where's the value added content?
