As a fellow Philly geek I'm glad to see the scene in general get such in-depth coverage and see so many familiar names get cred.

Just thought I'd let you know, there's a typo in "...they’re likely to strike sparks with other Philly braniacs." Though I'm sure there are fiber geeks out there too. : )

Re: PodCamp Philly is Fun!

That session was ka-razy. That looks like XLNT moved to right near me. We should totally do lunch sometime!

I also really like this new WP theme...what is it? And the header graphic is way cool.

PS--Can't make it to the show this Saturday due to a friend's bday plans, but thanks for the invite!

Re: illegal public art at it’s finest

Holy crap, that was INSANE. *boggles*

That must have taken months and months...and what if someone messed up their work on a wall before they finished that bit? Man.

That thing needs to win an Oscar. Brilliant. Tweeting now.

Re: video on community building community discussion…community

I hadn't heard of commoncraft before but that's very cool. I think a video like that could work, maybe intersperse some "live action" video with it as well?

Whatever form the videos take, if we do videos I'd love to help out. Feel free to "rope me in."

Hm. Thought--co-working vlog with core "how-to" videos?

Re: video on community building community discussion…community

@alex

So bad at keeping up with comments....sorry for the delay.

I just had a wacky idea--a co-working sitcom/sketch show/comic how-to videos.

As far as srs bizness is concerned...hmmm. I would think the root to the whole co-working thing is "how to network/find people to co-work with". Cause if you can't network, then you're kinda SOL.

Re: i’d never sell my peeps

Hear, hear! applauds

This is exactly how I feel. It's the people who matter and not the tools. I wouldn't use [insert site/app name here] if my friends and other people I find interesting weren't on them. It's why I still heart LJ, even though it's not as "l33t" as other networks: it's all content that matters--my friends writing about what they're thinking and doing. In an optionally private environment.

So right now I heart LJ, Twitter, and Facebook in that order. I am daily tempted to delete my MySpace account though. So unused...

Re: Buy a Domain for Email or at Least a Gmail Account

I completely agree with this post, Chris! To be honest, it surprises me that there are people who would only have a work email address without a personal one, even if it is an ISP.

What I like to do is give out my personal Gmail address to people at work after I leave a job so they can continue to get in touch with me--but only after, mostly. Why? Because due to auto-fill, if people have my Gmail I start getting work email in my personal Gmail account. :-)

I would also agree with what many other commenters already said here, which is to route a domain email address through Gmail--Gmail is like cheese, it just makes everything better! I've become so used to the interface and logic of Gmail that I can't stand using anything else for email! I created a new Gmail account for work and route my work email through that. That way I also have separate Google docs, calendar and the like just for work.

Google Apps really is a great solution for using Gmail/Google Accounts for work or a custom domain, also.
