Jag förstår inte varför vissa klagar? Man förstår VEM han imiterar och det är väl det som är det bästa...spelar roll om det inte är klockrena imitationer...vissa är grymma andra är inte lika bra, men fortfarande är helheten bättre än DU kan komma i närheten av...så sluta klaga och börja skratta istället...ett litet tips bara ;) För du vet att du inte kan göra det bättre :)

du kan ju se ex om de trycker på ngn spec länk på ngn sida för att komma till dig, eller om de själva matar in adressen, eller om de googlar på dig och hittar till sidan därigenom. du kan även se hur många nya besökare du har, hur många återvändande osv :)

Eeek! That Babywise is the devil! Throw it and most other books away and trust your gut... except when it tells you to put the wailing week-old infant on a bus to New Jersey in the middle of the night (this might seem like a good idea *at the time* but later you will be very glad your spouse talked you out of it. Trust me on this one).

Anyway, you already know everything you need to know about babies - it is buried deep in the recesses of your matrix-like brain, and Ollie will download it out of you like the master hacker he already is. The only other thing to get the hang of is surviving without REM sleep -- this will put you in the same class as fighter pilots and Resistance heroes and yogis and cyborgs, and forever after you will gaze at weaklings who recklessly sleep until noon with the utter contempt/ sheer envy they deserve.

Yeah, what is it about babies and fascist leaders? Busytot used to do the spookiest Rob Muldoon face, usually right after he'd finished a feed and I was feeling all lovey-dovey, then I'd look down and he'd be going "Eh-eh-heh-heh." Freakout! For about the first month he also did a dead-on impersonation of the Pope: something about the white skullcap, white nightie, hunched shoulders, and the way he'd wring his little hands while muttering the Latin Mass. It was uncanny.

Glad that the smiles are coming thick and fast, and I hope they're the only thing.

Ah, the reliable daily poo, after which everything settles down and you know where you are and can safely head out for the day. I remember those days.

Alas, our small nappy-chappy is having some trouble in that department. We got to know some new people rather better than expected the other day when a certain small person colonised their loo for about an hour, tragically unable to either sh*t OR get off the pot. Tick tick tick went the clock, and the other party guests all went home while the lonely vigil went on upstairs... We ended up staying for dinner, rather than get out the crowbars. All ended happily, I am glad to say.

Happy eight weeks, master Ollie! How does it feel to be 1/6?

Speaking of which, Busytot was rudely woken from his nap this afternoon by the baby monitor tuning into the neighbour's phone. "What dat radio, Mummy?" "Hmmm...well, it's someone being incredibly picky about the details of a Caribbean holiday, and..." It took me some time to figure out what was going on, so now I know pretty much everything there is to know about Bermuda in the off-season.

Weird... there are seesaws in most of the (American) playgrounds we go to, and while some of the newer playgrounds are definitely on the boring, overly safe side, you can still find some good arm-breaking ones here and there (hint: play on the poorer side of town). A recent playground tour of NZ suggests the same range of options.

There's also some truly awesome playground design happening in the US, including accessible playgrounds that welcome kids with mobility problems, and nature-based play spaces, like these: http://www.planetearthplayscapes.com/

Oh, and the suing for damages thing is not a "mindset" so much as an unavoidable side-effect of having a crap health system. Say you're playing on the flying fox in the US, not NZ, and your kiddo flies off the flying fox headfirst and is badly injured - you're responsible for all medical expenses, care, equipment, etc, for the rest of his life. Better hope you've got a job with decent health insurance, and then better hope you never lose that job, or run up against spending limits on the insurance... fancy losing your house and savings so your child can get the necessary care? Happens all the time over here.

That said, it does become a mindset after a while. I narrowly missed a disaster the other day, caused by the spectacularly dangerous failure of a consumer product, and my first thought (after "thank god I'm alive") was "OK, so who could I have sued, and for how much, both to punish them for this appalling oversight, and to pay for my wheelchair?"

And I wonder what Bush will do in terms of pardons?

Regardless of the politics, Paulson must be stopped. But is there anyone big enough to stop him?

He certainly has guaranteed himself a nice cozy chairmanship (like Ruben) or lucrative consulting contracts/speaking fees like Greenspan.

Hey, maybe they'll even announce a big book deal with a 7 figure advance fee payment!

I don't know. This seems incredibly annoying to me. I share everyone's concerns about China, just as I have concerns about the West. But us "telling them what to do" is reallly really arrogant.

Unlike their government, the Chinese have a well-developped and mature culture. They have dissentors, environmental activists, academics, etc. who can do the job of criticising the country's direction much better than than we can. Our (Westerners') role, after we take care of things at home, should be limited to "positive engagement": make

This kind of nagging is silly, offensive, and ineffective. It gives the individual a little ego boost, lets them feel they're doing something useful, even though they're not. The people writing these notes are creatures of a culture of consumption: they seek instant, empty gratification, where real effectiveness takes years and is full of uncertainty.

If you really want to help, educate yourself; get a job with a company, like a cleantech startup, that's doing business in China, oir whose model they can copy; or make friends, cultural connections with real Chinese people. Just don't post anonymous, nagging notes on the internet. It marks you, and the environmental community as a crank, and I'd thank you not to do that.

DCFS is talking about 50:1 caseloads and the comments are only on Dillard? Let's not add to the impression that these scenarios aren't real. Non-profits who contract with the state are running up to the end of their fiscal year. They can't afford to keep people on the payroll because some people don't think this doomsday budget will come to pass. This is real.

A 70% budget is no solution for human service agencies. The House Dems heard "you've got an out" and fled the building. Most programs will never see 70% of their funding - it won't be 70% across the board. And even if they got that much, it's a large enough cut to seriously damage the safety net and kill already struggling agencies. Thanks but no thanks.

Anybody else find it ironic that Steve Brown said the July 14 date was picked to cause the "least amount of disruption" to lawmakers' lives?? Guess the people being laid off as we speak don't deserve that level of respect.

Also, I'd love to be able to say where my tax dollars should go - I bet human services and education fare better in that scenario!
