I hope I didn't imply that I resented the improvements that you guys are making to Disqus. I love Disqus, and the sooner I can retire FF2Disqus, the better (support sucks). I just want to make sure that I understand how things work so that I can see where the gaps are between what I want as a user and what is out there being provided.
Also, FF2Disqus no longer pulls Disqus comments into FF. It's a long story. :)

Ok, but I'm not sure you answered my question.
See the two comments below (from laibcoms and rahsheen)? They are comments on the following FF entry (http://friendfeed.com/e/4dc2f737-4dca-e237-c647...) which in turn points back to Daniel Ha's blog post (http://obscurelyfamous.com/post/73400413/postin...). So, why are those comments showing up rather than there?

I think you're clearly correct.
In programming, there's a common problem with developers focusing too much on local code optimizations (that are within their control) that they ignore global optimizations (that are often out of their control, instead dictated by the overall architecture of the system).

It is somewhat ironic to have such a bad typo in an article about intelligence, isn't it? Fixed.

This morning I caught my roommate Taurus before he walked out the door. I mentioned psyched I was for the iPhone. He said he thought it was cool too, but he didn't see the need for it.
I asked him what he meant, and he whipped out his ghastly Blackberry and said something about it failing to be enough of a smartphone to replace what he already had, etc etc.
I looked at him funny, all the while silently judging him.

What?!? Wow, Greg's going to have a heart attack when he finds that out.
Oh, and by the way, it's the freaking Wikipedia. You don't have to lament that they weren't included, you can put them in yourself! Get with it, Di.

Thanks, Al. Good news to report: the latest rumor out of Redskins camp is that Jason Campbell is going to start next Sunday versus Tampa Bay. Assuming this is true, perhaps we're starting to gear up for the 2007 campaign. It can't get here fast enough...

I can't say for certain, but alot of people harkening back to the CDDB days have alot of anger towards Gracenote. After all, the original CDDB wouldn't have existed if not for the voluntary contributions of millions of users who would tediously enter information *into* the database, free of charge. It was almost like a game of who could enter the latest (or most obscure) albums into the database first. And then next thing you know, this "community" tool was telling users "thanks for the data" but we think we'll turn this into a business now. It's possible these privacy advocates have other axes to grind.

Adam,
Were you present at last year's debate between Larry Lessig and James DeLong?
http://cubanlinks.org/blog/post/2004/03/25/Deba...
I'm just curious which side of the fence you (and the Center for Digital Media Freedom) might come down on some of those topics. Or perhaps there's plenty of middle ground to be had.
