in Keeping It On The Down Low on [FUNG'KE] [BLAK] [CHIK]
Hi there!
I have known a few brothas who were on the down low...
I didn't bust them out to other women because I am not the "Down Low" police for all black women in America.
Those sistas who choose to give their bodies to a man assume FULL responsibility for checking him out before hitting the sheets.
Each sistas must have her OWN vetting process in place to weed out the okey doke and the deceptions.
It's not MY responsibility to put a brotha on blast who's on the DL.
Each woman needs to do her own homework and use wisdom and discernment before getting sexually involved with a man.
Peace, blessings and DUNAMIS!

Hi there!!
I love, love, love your new spot!!
Whenever blacks tell me that the N-word is a term of endearment, I ask, "then why don't you call your mother that?" and "why wasn't that word on her tombstone?" and "why didn't you use the term on your wedding day when reciting your vows?" and "why don't you call your pastor that?"
Because the bottom line is that it is NOT a term of endearment and they know it.

Why are the questions about the self-love and self-respect directed at the mistress....and not the man who was cheating?
The mistress didn't break the marital vows. She didn't MAKE the marital vows. He did. So where is HIS self-love and HIS self-respect?
There are plenty of men who are in cosmetic marriages and their wives are just an accessory for the "package" of looking successful and stable. Most of these men don't even live in the same house with their wives and haven't done so for years.
Jesse Sr. had not lived in the same house with his wife for twenty years when the "SCANDAL" broke that he had fathered a baby with another woman.

The questions about self-love and self-respect are directed at the whore...mistress.."that which we call a rose would smell as sweet by any other name" because she should have known better....HE is married. If your relationship is exposed, can you really hold your head up? Can you honesty say "I did not do anything wrong". We are our own moral compass out here in this bad world. You always have the ability to say ,,,,thanks, but no thanks because on every level this is wrong. So this is why, I believe the question is directed to the side piece. Really, grow up...or get a bottle, crawl in a stroller and live by the mantra that you do not control your behavior....like the 2 and 3 year children in this world....

Hello there!
This student has EVERY right to refer to himself as a White African American. He is white and from Africa! Many White South Africans refer to themselves as White and they also identify as African.
There was one Oscar winner who is a blond white actress and is from South Africa and she identifies as African. I forgot her name but she won an Oscar for portraying a woman who was a serial killer about ten years ago.
Black people who are descendants of slaves in the U.S. can not claim that they are the ONLY persons who can identify as African in this country! It is preposterous.
As quiet as it's kept...some of them shouldn't even BOTHER to identify as African-American when they can't even name the presidents of TEN countries in Africa, have NO CLUE which tribe they are from and don't even know anything at all about any African cultures... oh...but that's another post for another day... *loooong sigh*

What about the choices made PRIOR to her being in this situation? I am not one that believes that having a child at a young age ruins your life...it does however make it harder. Don't compound that by thinking that you have to bow to some indignant fool who is no good for you.

I know a sister who doesn't want to marry a man who is from the ghetto or who is from a fatherless home... she grew up in the projects and doesn't even know who her father is... she wants to have Ivy League men who are interested in her and she went to a mediocre school. She wants someone who is an astute investor and she lives check to check.
I am not saying that we can't set high standards but we need to be REALISTIC and truthful about the "minuses" that we bring to the equation.

Hello there,
I think that there are many women who have been battered emotionally in childhood by being exposed to their mother's or father's dysfunctional life choices... violence is such a common aspect of the life of many black children in the lower class tiers.
It is a shame that this young woman stayed in an abusive relationship as long as she did....this beating WAS NOT her first one...that is obvious.
Chris did not just fly off of the handle this one time...men who abuse physically are ALWAYS mentally and emotionally abusive as well...always.
I hope she gets help... Halle Berry spoke about HER own battery incident with Wesley Snipes and he hit her so hard that she is now deaf in one ear....

in Color of Change - Speak Out on Oscar Grant & BART Shooting on Jack and Jill Politics
Hello there,
I am sorry that Oscar Grant lost his life... it was a horrific tragedy for that police officer to shoot him dead in cold blood. None of the officers standing near reacted with any emotion or remorse!
Still... I am disturbed when a ghetto thug becomes a martyr in his death. Oscar Grant and his friends were engaged with police because they were fighting on the darn train on New Year's Eve!!
I am not implying that fighting on the train warrants and execution but I think that it is so disconcerting for all of the blogs to focus on the murder and NOT EVEN mention that Oscar Grant had a criminal record, had been incarcerated repeatedly and was a menace to society (in some respects).
His mother said he was trying to turn his life around... maybe he was... but he certainly wasn't showing that commitment to reform his life by fighting on the train.
Every time I read about another legalized murder of a black man or black person - or any person for that matter - it makes my blood boil. I am also angered when criminals place themselves in a position to encounter the police.
Do I feel that Oscar Grant would have been alive today if he had NOT been figthing on the train? Yes... perhaps he would have been.
I am not blaming the victim for police murder.
But I also do not believe this thug (or recovering thug, depending on who you ask!) should be martyred as though he died like Malcolm X....

Hi there!
I agree with WhiteRoseBuddy that there are plenty of families like the Obamas in black America... PLENTY... they are not some rare and exquisite example of the black family. There are solid black families with two devoted parents who are raising wonderful and happy and well-behaved children who are thriving.
It is always a bit disconcerting for me to hear black people making comments that high-achieving black couples are just soooo stunningly unusual in their experience...
One thing that Michelle Obama's PR team has been trying to do is to dismantle the notion that a black person ONLY represents blacks and not the whole of America. It will take a lot for that message to sink in.
Michelle Obama IS an American not a "niche group" American that only "the niche" can identify with.
Peace, blessings and DUNAMIS!

You know what I can't firgure BWBT?
Why is it that Coates as a black person bought into the stereotype of blacks being poor and ignorant to such a degree that he categorized what Michelle was saying as 'sounding like a white person'? What created that level of distortion in his mind as an educated black person, how could he have had those same stereotypes to the degree that he is perpetuating them with his article as so uncommon place that he as a black 'educated' male...thought Michelle was 'white'?
What is up with that mentality?

If the limo had been unveiled and it had been pimped-out then black folks would have screamed racism!! They would have said it was a drug mogul's limo and not fitting for a president....so now the new limo is understated and not "hip".

Hello there,
Anyone who kills is mentally ill... there is NO WAY that anyone can convince me that an emotionally stable person will take another person's life. This man was clearly deranged. I do not blame the mother for any of this but I surely hope that our sistas who are in abusive relationships will TAKE HEED to these news storires... this one... the sister of Jennifer Hudson...there are so many examples out here that should cause an internal alarm to go off within some of the minds of some women who are constantly allowing these unstable, violent men in their lives.
I am sooo very sad to hear that this poor baby was so horribly treated...to death....
It is so tragic...

*LOL*
I am on FB but I really don't use it and I don't even have a page set up. I registered for it so that I can connect with people I know who don't communicate with the outside world, except by FB! {loooong sigh}
I joined Twitter a month ago and I am still trying to figure out WHY people are sooo excited about it. It's great if you want to read 10-15 news feeds at the same time, but you also have to read a bunch of useless information about what someone ate for dinner and how many gray hairs they have in their right ear.
I think that people need to understand that blogs are NOT autobiographies...people say whatever they want to about their lives online. There are some people who fall in love with someone based on a web page.... that is just sooo sad... really.
Renaissance Black Woman had to post a man's pic and detail the cyber stalking last year just to warn other women. I hope that they took her warning seriously....

I recall RBW's incident, where she had to put him on blast! As much as people can warn others, there's always those that refuse to heed those warnings, unfortunately.

and all the other men out there like him. I think you have missed a very
important point about Jesse Jackson -- he is a pastor and his behavior spoke
volumes to his character.
Back to Ms. Cooper -- whether a man is married in name only is still no
excuse for a woman to put herself out there like that. Yes, he's a scumbag
who has no respect for neither himself nor his wife, but like John Edwards
his clean-cut image has been forever damaged. Rev. Jackson lost a lot of
respect from many people by his infidelity, among other things. As a woman,
I could NEVER knowingly have a relationship with a married man, let alone
unprotected sexual intercourse. I am pretty sure she knew he was
married because his wife is well known around New York City. Again, this
speaks to self-respect in my book, on both sides.
