Nick,

even better, use Jott to call an add stuff to your RemembertheMilk list form anywhere. It gets transcribed and added and then also right on your iPhone

in Proper Twitter Etiquette, What is it? on Social Times
I would also say that twittering a blog post in the normal stream is not a big deal, as long as that is not your only contribution to twitter. I think many, like yourself and me for instance, have a great flowing converstaion with the people we follow and that an occasional tweet to promote a blog would be no big deal. I would say that many would argue that simply a twitter stream of ads for your blog would not eb the best twitter etiquette.

This is a great post. There are great people out there, especially here in DC. I told you about this I had written just before I read your post.

in Future of D.C., Next Steps on Social Times
Nick,
I know you have been planning this for a while and I am so glad to see you bring it to reality for us locals here in DC. I liked your post you talk about and I too think we are on the cusp of some good things here and I applaud you for trying to help provide that spark to start the fire ablaze.

I have been offline a bit trying to get my feet under me and a new job, but I hope to be back out there trying to help you in driving the community forward.

in What’s the Future of D.C. Technology? on Social Times
Hi Nick,

As usual great post. I often have a lot of these questions kicking around in my head. Dont know if you saw this or not, but I wrote this a couple of weeks ago about this very, almost very, topic.

While I do not want it to be true, I think it may be a factor

in Feeling Overloaded? Here’s Why. on Social Times
Nick,
Thats why I think we enjoy things like the social media breakfast. It gives us a brief reprieve from this overload and take a minute to take a breath and converse with all the great people. Then we leave, pull out our iPhones/Blackberry's and out our heads down buried in it as we return to our overload ...

in Using Social Tools to Be More Social on Social Times
Anthony,

Great post, I could not agree more. I have been amazed at how since I started really using social media tools like FB and to a larger extent Twitter how it has facilitated me actually meeting more people in person than I would have before. It continues to amaze me. I have already developed some really nice relationships with people in the local crowd and my nline activities has only enhanced them.
I point to the post ( http://tinyurl.com/2255w5 ) by Aaron Brazel (technolsailor) about relationships in the internet world.

in Social in Real Space vs Social Networking on Chris Brogan
Chris,
Great advice. There is a Web Innovations Group in Boston that uses Eventbrite (as may do). Anyway, registrants are listed with their URL's. Like you said, that way you can familiarize yourself before you attend.

in The ABC/Facebook Presedential Debates: Good Debates, Not Much Facebook on AllFacebook
Personally I thought it was a bit ironic that a company who had spent the week defending/arguing its ability to quite undemocratically delete a person account and all their collected data to be a sponsor of perhaps one of the oldest democratic institutions we have ...

in Erased on Scobleizer
Scoble,
I will say, I dont find I agree with you too many times, but in this case I am on your side. What bothers me, and I think many are missing this, is that we are making an investment in these networks. We invest out time and energy and we expect a return on that investment. I wrote a post on my thoughts and would love your opinion (http://tinyurl.com/24c3qk)

Happy New Year, hope you have a great one

in The Scoble mess and data portability on Mathew's comments
Matt,
I agree, I also side with Scoble on this. I had a take on it in a post I had last night. I thought about it all day. But basically, in using these social networks, we are making an investment. We invest our time and efforts to get some return. It is not fair for someone to be able to take our "nestegg" and delete it. We are not speculating on stocks here, that is a risk. Anyway, great post and check out mine if you have a second.
