Sometimes too much of a good thing, can become bad. Trying to focus on every little detail is difficult at best to do.

Re: Pilgrim Updates: Digg, Facebook, Contest Winner

Congratulations Andrew, and kudos on the plans to save the money versus spending it now.

Seeing this is reason enough for me to get on board with the RSS subscription!

Re: NBC Ditches iTunes

That's crazy... Any times my DVR crapped out and I needed to catch the new episode of the Office, I'd head on over there. That was really the only reason left to USE iTunes.

Big loss there for Apple in my opinion.

Re: Google Wins American Blinds Legal War of Attrition

I think the key to this is summarized beautifully in your final statement. Google is no longer search, it is advertising. As an advertising company, they couldn't afford to take a hit like this -- and they paid to make it go away.

Re: Hulu Already Living Up To Its Name

"We have more than five years and tens of millions of dollars in investment successfully building the Lulu brand… It is clear we are required to move quickly to protect our intellectual property and defend ourselves"

I feel like I've been living under a rock, as I've yet to come across Lulu until your post here Paul.

Re: Pilgrim’s Picks, September 5

The Jupiter report is telling. First, I didn't realize that they had their eyes on viral marketing efforts. Second, I think that most conventional marketers are cloudy at best with viral marketing. In short, their unfamiliarity leads them to strangely high expectations.

Re: It’s Official: Blogs Are Media

"t really just makes official what should have already been obvious to everyone!" --- Agreed, but for those of us who have been writing a while (Andy!) -- it's almost validating.

Re: Apple Salvages Reputation with iPhone Consolation

While commendable actions like these are a great way to boost consumer interest and loyalty -- I think that they (Apple) have failed in one major way.

They're still branding themselves as a computer company, and they're simply consumer electronics. Aside from the random one percent of the population with a Mac -- everyone and their dog has an iPod or two.

Re: Pilgrim’s Picks, September 7

Re: USA Today... Good call Jordan! Like banner ads, these will soon be rendered useless. The big news is the "Del.ico.us" redesign. He's obsessed with over-marketing everything. He did really well with Netscape. Once he left though, the decline began. The same is true too though now with his Mahalo project. He's over hyping it, allowing the users and social aspects dictate growth and progress.

A year from now, I'm willing to bet that too will be dead in the water.

Re: Google Execs Talking about Video Ads

I expected the flash based ads on the bottom of the YouTube videos to be more intrusive when people first started complaining. I know that doesn't apply to the SERPs per se, but if Google could pull off something similar here without really upsetting the balance of the page -- I would be impressed.

Re: SMX Social Media Recap

Tamar, SMX rocked -- and meeting all of you guys was an absolute pleasure. As I said last week to both you and Chris -- you would never know it was your first time presenting. You handled it extremely well, as as others above mention, you gave some solid information and insight that was well appreciated.

Re: In Memory of My Grandpa David, a Wonderful Man

Tamar, as is the case with everyone... My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. A loss is never easy -- though that's stating the obvious. I'll brush up on my live blogging skills, and hopefully I'll make your cut next time.

As I mentioned last week, you did an excellent job and you wouldn't know it was your first time up there on a panel.

I guess what they say is true... A Celtics fan who's been dying for a moment like that just *had* to try.

This is a great resource though Chris, and it's only strengthened by the fact that you know in your heart that NY is trash and all Boston sports teams are wonderful.

And props to Captain TC for commenting before I even had a chance to.

Re: No Sense in AdSense? I'm in the midst of an ongoing email thread with Ben, a Google AdSense rep. After he had read my blog post, he responded with a wealth of information as well as some opinion on the matter.

For now, I'm waiting to make sure I can use the emails I have from him on my blog. In the meantime, I'm just sitting back collecting more information on the matter.

Rest assured -- I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the link as well as the great post Paul -- keep it up!

Re: Because we’re a community right?

Very well said Paul! I've been trying to keep up with the Krak.dk issues, but the bottom line is that Per is in the clear and that's what you set out to do in the first place.

To me, there's never such a thing as an overreaction. If you can't be passionate about something, than what's the point in the first place?

I think you did a great job covering the story, providing updates, and keeping other bloggers protected. Assuming Krak.dk tries going after over private bloggers, there'll be a source of protection and a precedent to refer back to.

Re: Poor customer service makes Paul and his wallet go elsewhere

Hey Paul, good to know that you're sticking it to them. I had the same thing happen here with Cox Communications who's a big time cable provider in the states.

In the end, they told me I had wait four days for a tech to come out and inspect things. This after they tested my cable modem remotely and said things were fine.

I realized though that since we had bundled services (cable tv, 'net and digital phone) and the others were working fine -- it had to be a hardware issue -- not a cable signal issue.

I yanked out the modem and brought it to their service center. Got a new one on the spot and was back up and online in no time! :)

Re: StarCraft 2 is coming.
