in Ep 134: Ice TV and Channel Nine with Jim Schembri on Boxcutters - An Australian TV Podcast
Thanks for talking about IceTV Recommendations. We're pretty happy with the way it works (obviously given we power them :) ).

Being a TV geek myself, it was the one thing I really wanted out system to do. So working with IceTV happened to be a personal favourite.

Keep up the great podcast.

Great review!

I'm looking forward to seeing how much I use the platform.

I'm also interested to know how I can add my other exercises to the system, so that it charts everything I do.

The one area that I was a little disappointed is that it doesn't connect to Nintendo WiFi Connect. Imagine how much fun it would be competing with other people, or at the very least, sharing your training with others.

in Your ad-supported Web 2.0 site is actually a B2B enterprise in disguise on Futuristic Play by @Andrew_Chen

Great post.

Rheingold's story sounds a lot like the one we had with Scouta. We built out our social network first, and then launched out B2B offering.

It's surprising how many web companies don't realize that you still need to focus most of your energy on traditional business values. Sales being a very important one. Although I'm CEO of the company, I spent almost all of my time as if I was a traditional sales person.

in Feedback on scouta.com redesign mockup on Surrounded by idiots
Wow, awesome feedback. Thanks for taking the time to blog it.

I might have to get a quote from you :). Being the CEO, I'm not sure I'm the best for design :).

I'll absorb all this, and the other comments, and re-work.

Thanks again.

alan jones no wucks, i feel your pain! but repeat this mantra "any homepage is better than no homepage". homepage redesign can easily swallow way too much time. better to iterate regularly and start making changes based on studying how users respond to those changes. anyway, you're welcome!

I'm probably going to get an eStarling for that very reason. Saves getting prints, and you can set it for group RSS feeds if needed.

Brilliant quote! Made me laugh thinking of the full conversation in Google's boardroom.

in The feuding over my Facebook fetish on Scobleizer
Scobes :), the main concern I have for those people with large "friend" lists in applications is the default filtering that they need to take to keep up with all of them: Time.

If you pre-filter the people you add (to some degree), then you can potentially worry less about who and find what's important. By following so many people who don't have the time to filter by importance, and so you filter by the time you have available.

It depends on your goal, but what I'd suggest is that if you're looking to be a connector, then you need to have a better filter than just your time. Otherwise important things are more likely to slip through the cracks.

Thanks Jordan.

Great that you like Scouta.

It also takes into account things you add, so not just based on voting :). Soon it'll be even more clever, and take into account descriptions and tags.

Know any good local designers? I'm seriously in need of someone who could contract in to design, do some UI work, and icons. Flick me an email if you have ideas of people (or ideas for Scouta). Prefer someone with UI and design...but immediately need a designer for some page work and an OS X icon for the iTunes agent.

Thanks very much for the mention Pete.

Though Scouta is more about audio and video recommendations, than rating. Rating is a small way for members to provide feedback, the result being personalised recommendations based on interests and tastes.

If you're sick of being unable to easily find interesting online audio and video (we include podcasts and vodcasts), then Scouta makes it quick and easy.

Thanks again for the link!

in It’s snow day for Cuban to pick on BusinessWeek on Scobleizer
Did it snow in the Valley earlier this year? I was flying from San Diego from ETech up to SF, and we saw snow (probably about as much as 76). It was damn cold at the airport as well.

Good luck Scoble.

I hope to catch you at Supernova in a couple of weeks, and have a chat about the podcasting landscape. Working with Cam at TPN I'd be interested to get your perspective, as I'm gathering you think it's a major emerging market.

in World Cup Fans, get ready! on Scobleizer
Is it going to be broadcast in HD though? We've found, down here in Australia, that most sporting events aren't even wide screen as yet. All countries broadcast to the lowest common denominator, because many of the major buying countries haven't started their digital television role out yet.

Fingers crossed though. Australia is in, and the excitement is already reaching fever-pitch.

in Where should I go on holidays? on duncanriley.com
Oooooh....too much to choose from there.

I like Clay's thinking, but if you're leaning toward asia I say Thailand. Beautiful country, people, weather, and a nice place to relax.

China is also awesome, but for different reasons. Beijing is an amazing city, and the history is astounding. However, you'll need to sort out your visa if you want to head that way.

I can chat with you on Skype if you like. I've been to all the places you've listed.

in Guy on community… on Scobleizer
I think when Scoble says to hang out, he isn't specifically stating face-to-face. He might have focused a little on dinners, but he also suggested blogs and comments.

You can do a good job of hanging out with people on the phone, blogs, comments, forums, Skype, instant message, Xbox Live, podcasts, etc. etc.

With the Internet, there are many more ways to "hang out."

in Guy on community… on Scobleizer
Scoble

Spot on. In fact how can you build a community with out being a part of it. Perhaps guy meant this, but didn't explicitly state it, when he said "A community needs a champion." However, it's worth having its own point.

As an asside. You might like the interview I did with Guy the other day on The Gadget Show.
