What a great post and an important issue.



On our first posting it felt so bad. The first 6 months were horrible. I was homesick all the time.



But then I realized that thinking and longing for the past is interfering with my ability to build a new life. SO I snapped out of it and started to enjoy and appreciate the new life.



Next posting was much easier. I did not miss home at all, and immediately worked on building a new life and new experiences.

For me it doesn't really matters if the person is a fellow expat or a local.



What matters is for us having a good chemistry and fun being together.



Many times I see expats hanging together for the wrong reasons - Just because they share the same culture and language. I am sure that back home they would never become friends.

Su Ann, you dont know just how LUCKY you are!!! Msian food, and all sooo authentic at that!!! Here where I live, I cant even find damn chili to make sambal and what not. Asian ingredients, what more, FOOD does not exist here! :( So much for glorious Italian food, I want my damn CKT and nasi lemak already dammit!

Letting the foreclosed houses be sold for back taxes is good! Talk about affordable housing! Most likely the successful bidder would only need to pay the back taxes to get a Collectors Deed. In my neck of the woods, that means a bidder might be able to buy a house for $2,000.



I'd say the banks have the same right to let properties go for back taxes as anyone else.



There is only one problem with Collectors Deeds obtained at tax sales, and that is that no one will write title insurance on them. A Collectors Deed is an automatic cloud on the title. I think that if banks let REOs go for back taxes, they should be required to resolve the cloud on the title. If I remember right, that would mean providing a Quit Claim Deed.

Su Ann for PM!! =P I will be 27 this year, registered not too long ago, and can vote. Problem is, my IC has my Johor add, I need to either:

a) Change my IC to my current Selangor add
b) Go back to Johor to vote

I cant change my IC add, as I'm getting married in a few months time, and I will have to change my IC add to a KL add (coz he's from KL) so that we can register our marriage in KL. Damn stupid rule can die.

I cant go back to Johor to vote coz its so uneconomical. I was trying to hitch a ride from some friends who happen to be going back that weekend, but the car full already. If I were to take a bus and all that, will cost me about RM100 and 8 hours travelling to and fro. Plus, my family has moved from Johor, so I got no house to stay in! :( :(

Hmmm....it has been a strange season all round for the Premiership. Except for Middlesbrough ( who I support). Everyone knew they would struggle this season with an inexperienced manager.
Anyhow I digress. There appears to be a lack of passion in the EPL these days, and players know they will be paid no matter what no who cares whether they win or lose? Only the fans and until they come into the equation, along with capped wages, nothing will change. Sorry I'll get off my soapbox now before I fall off
